Great shoes, make sure it's from a reliable merchant though!
These Birkenstocks are awesome. They fit great and feel very comfortable. However, the private, non Amazon sellers who are shipping with Prime are sending scratched up pairs which look awful. I purchased 2 and they both looked defective. See photos! This last pair seriously looked like an abused floor sample or return. Very visible marks all over. Very disappointed.

First Milano Birk for me after years of wearing the Arizona. Delighted!
I've worn Atizona model Birks for many years and still have a 4-year old pair I love. Noticed, however, that the lack of a heel strap on the Arizona means that I tend to carry a certain amount of tension in my right foot, particularly on stairs or when walking the hills around my home in Breckenridge (CO). Decided to try the Milano model model (for its heal strap) and I couldn't be happier the choice: it doesn't feel confining at all, but handles the up and down treks with elan. Love them!I second the advice on many reviews to maintain your older Birks' midsole with a coating of cork sealer every six months or so, particularly if you wear them in damp or muddy conditions as I do. Helps keep the critical cork layer from getting soaked and makes for longer life of your trusty Birks.

I love the fit and feel
This was my first purchase of Birkenstock shoes, received the end of August this year. I love the fit and feel. My complaint and the reason I didn't give them 5 stars is that the rubber sole is already warn down and needs to be replaced. I don't have foot issues, don't drag my feet, don't have an uneven gait, nothing wrong with the way I walk. I do wear them all the time, almost every day. To pay so much for a pair of shoes and have the sole wear out in LESS THAN 3 months is totally unacceptable. So frustrating. I am so disappointed in these shoes. Now if I want to keep wearing them, I have to pay yet more money to have them resoled. What a ripoff.

Sizing off, great shoe
Great show, BAD sizing. I wear a women’s 8 so I ordered a 39. It’s about one centimeter minimum to long past my big toe and wider. So I’m returnig to order a size smaller. It’s legitimate leather and looks to be of good quality, and I’m picky.

If you have foot pain, you should try these now!
These are the most comfortable footwear I've ever owned.I found them while searching for a remedy for my painful metatarsalgia in one foot. These sandals instantly relieved my pain.I can now walk all day in these without any pain or discomfort during or after.I'm glad I finally found these after exhausting all other footwear choices.I recommend these highly to all those who have foot pain.At first the price seemed excessive for such a geeky looking product. But I now see the quality and value.Pros:1. The upper is just one single piece of thick leather - there is no seam or stitch - it will never break or rip.2. The foot liner is leather too - and is glued to the mid-sole.3. The mid-sole is contoured cork that molds to your foot and provides amazing support for the entire foot.4. The sole is a thick layer of rubber - glued to the bottom - it seems too simplistic when compared to modern sneakers, but works well.Cons:1. None so far.How the manufacturer could improve this product:1. Make the sole more durable and non-slip like modern day athletic footwear.Be sure to buy a cork sealant and apply it generously for longevity.

Heels Deteriorates When Wet and Leaves Marks on Carpet and Floor
These sandals have a great reputation, but mine are a disappointment. Whenever the soles get damp, the heels leave smudge marks on the carpet and floor. The floor is easily mopped, but the carpet marks requires hard sponging or the use of a carpet cleaner. These marks are not just water marks: they're dark smudges caused by deterioration of the heel material. Birkenstock's quality control seems to be slipping if they can't detect inferior materials from their suppliers. If you get a new pair, you could test them for this problem. However, the deterioration didn't show up on mine until after I had worn them for 6 months, so I can't return them. Its a shame to pay so much money for an inferior product that can't be returned.

Great shoes. (But beware size description on Amazon -- Buy by European size)
Fantastic sandals that are good for your feet, comfortable, and last forever. They are enjoying a bit of a fashion resurgence. One negative is that on Amazon these are often listed by U.S. or U.K. sizes -- which is someone guessing at the size relative to the Birkenstock size which are ALWAYS whole sizes European unisex. So learn which one you are getting or buy and return as needed (thank you Amazon!).Second, Try smaller than your normal European Size. My Birkenstock size is 41 in some styles, 40 in others, while in European shoes (like my biking shoes or others made in Europe, I'm generally buying 42 or sometimes 43). Birks come in narrow or regular (regular being slightly wide, maybe a wide C or a U.S. D?), but Regular fits almost everyone. Some women may want to opt for the narrow -- Otherwise it's unisex.

The craftsmanship was poor with glue smeared on inside of leather strap and ...
I will be returning these shoes. The craftsmanship was poor with glue smeared on inside of leather strap and a small splotch of glue in the toe area of the right shoe. Suede footbed lining seemed rather dark (yellow color)compared to other Birkenstock products I have owned. Also, the leather straps are not very supple where simply trying them on it rubbed my ankle and I am certain if I were to wear them that I would definitely get a blister or minimally a raw spot. Not like my old Milano’s sadly.
