Makes a great cookie jar. Large, glass, good fitting g lid, and looks good on the countertop.

These cookie jars are exactly what I wanted. Theyre a generous size, clear glass so you can see what's inside with no trouble, and they have a gasket-sealed lid, so theyre fairly airtight.The only complaint I have is that the lids themselves are very flimsy. The metal is very thin and the knob is held on with a simple screw and nut arrangement. This in and of itself is fine, but I have no doubt that this lid is going to rust sooner than later, which is very annoying. I have had bad experiences with this same type and quality of metal. This time I'm going to try to find a food-grade sealant spray, and perhaps if I coat it it will protect it from rusting. Since I only plan on using it for snacks and baked goods, it won't need to be washed too often and can be wiped for cleaning.The glass jars are sturdy, thick glass that isnt too heavy but is strong enough for regular handling. Everything washed up beautifully and I hand-dried the lids to prevent moisture from starting any rust.In all, I'm glad I got these. I'd be willing to pay an extra couple of bucks for lids made from higher quality metal.

I was so excited to receive and open these. They are beautiful and just what I was looking for to store my flour and breakfast cereal. So many canisters these days are too small for larger amounts of food like this, but these are plenty big. I couldn't wait to try the lids and seal to see if they would really be airtight, and, yes! The lids formed a very tight seal. I could hear the air whoosh out and in as I put the lids on and off. This was going to be very important, especially, for one particular breakfast cereal that my ants seem to have targeted. The ants even chew right through the cereal bag to get at it, so I got a fresh box out of the vault and emptied it into one of these jars. It looked really cute in there, and the lid whooshed on just like it had when empty. I was ready to give these five firm stars, but when I went back later to serve a portion of cereal, the lid lifted off way too easily. The seal wasn't sealing. I don't know why not. It had worked perfectly before. I don't know the physics of it, but somehow, putting food in the jar caused the seal to loosen up. This won't do to solve the ant problem, so I had to pour my cereal into a plastic bag and set the jar aside while I contemplate what else I can put in there. I went from very excited to somewhat sad all in the course of one day.
