Great Stone
Like other reviewers have mentioned, the kit arrives soaked. The seal on the oil bottle was not secure and all of it had drained out on to the foam insert the kit arrives in. Luckily I didn't get it for the oil so it was not an issue for me but if I had been in need of the oil it would have been a huge disappointment. I removed the stone and tossed the entire box.The sharpening stone is great. I need a sharp axe at all times and this does a nice job. I like that it comes in a tin. Perfect so I don't have to put it in another container to keep dust and debris off it. Dropped a star for the oil mess otherwise I'd have given 5 stars.

This sharpening kit is great!
This kit does an amazing job with sharpening blades. The box the kit comes in makes it convenient to carry the kit around. The canister that the stone comes in protects the stone from any damage. The fact that the stone has dual grit makes it easy to sharpen with one tool. The fact that this kit comes with honing oil adds to the stone's convenience and durability/efficacy. Plus, the cleaning cloth provided helps keep blades cleaned up and free of debris caused by sharpening. This kit is definitely worth the money. Honestly, I'd even buy it if it cost a bit more. I highly recommend that anyone who self-sharpens your tools check out this kit.

Oil Spill
When I opened the box, the little bottle of oil was defective in some way that oil spilled all over the interior of the package, leaving only about 1/6 of the bottle left. The stone seems great. Can’t find a contact seller button to just request replacement oil rather than send a perfectly good stone back

Works really well for me
I've never tried this type stone before. I usually use a file on my axes and larger blades but this looked interesting so why not. Really glad I took the chance as it works great. This year I'm a little behind on firewood so my ax and hand splitter are getting quite the work out right now. I can carry the stone and oil in a pocket and much easier to have handy than my long files. When I take a break I tend to take a minute and get them back to super sharp instead of waiting until they are dull at the end of the day....so really seems to make the work go by faster. While I was at it - went ahead and tried it out on a machete...and again put a nice sharp edge on it. From there it's been sort of a fun thing seeing what all it will do. I have some very big kitchen knives and cleavers that were next....Again the stone did a great job and was easier sharpening than my long rectangular stones.....It does have a rough and a smooth side for whatever needs you have. Now I did have one kitchen knife from a venue I manage the food at....and can't imagine what they'd done with it because it had chips and dips all down the blade. For that one I did take my grinder with a finer wheel and ground those out then used the stone....Even that beat up knife came back to a nice sharp edge. These are great for yourself...or if you have friends who deal with axes are sharpening things - would make a great gift.....

Strong stone
Good for rough grinding really tight fit in the tin to keep it from rattling around I’m guessing but there’s no room to wrap it with anything so dropping the tin is just as good as dropping the stone

Nice compact kit.
This Axe Sharpening Stone Kit with Oil, is a nice compact kit which can easily be carried in a backpack. This is good for camping for when you need to sharpen your axe or hatchet. It is also good for adding to a survival bag, which is what I plan to do with it. The stone fits in your hand nicely. This is better for keeping an axe or hatchet sharp than sharpening a super dull one. For a super dull hatchet/axe use a bench grinder first. This stone will put a razor edge on a hatchet once it is sharp. It will work on duller blades though, it has 2 sides to the stone a rough side and a smooth side so if you are camping/survival and need to really sharpen the hatchet this will certainly do it. It comes nicely packaged in a box, which I kept mine in because it holds everything so nicely. I like that the stone comes in a tin to hold it, since it will be covered in oil from use.
