Wow, incredible, the missing link, a Godsend. If I could thank Dave personally, I would tell him that his life’s work, creating his Bland Diet and other special “restricted diet” dog food formulas, has indeed been a gift to the world.My 12 year-old Rottweiler, Raji, has come a long way. A rescue dog from The Animal League of Green Valley south of Tucson, he was one year-old when we adopted him and brought him home to join our 6 year-old Boxer mix, Dharma. Raji loves the desert and was my wife’s daily companion for 7 years, patrolling a 3,000 acre Mesquite Bosque that my wife managed for The Nature Conservancy in Arizona. He has walked 1,000’s of miles in his position and has stayed healthy and strong.Raji has been on a Victor grain-free kibble diet mixed with a bit of high-quality canned meat and raw meats occasionally. Only in the last 2 years did he begin having digestive issues that caused him to vomit and not be able to get the proper nutrition that he needed. We did some research and read how older dogs needed more quality protein and decided to eliminate the kibble and give have much more canned meat. It worked for a while without any issues until he reached 11 years-old and then just couldn’t keep any canned dog food in his gut.Blood work at the vet showed that his liver and kidneys were healthy, and the good doctor summarized that it was his stomach and digestive system that was slowly failing. Pepcid and other meds were tried, and we also switched from Blue to Canidae to see if one was more effective than the other. Sadly, neither one corrected his stomach issues.We did find that a “Maze” bowl, that causes a dog to lick out his food slowly rather than “Scarf and Barf”, was extremely helpful, however it still did not do the job. If he ate more than ½ can in one session, he vomited. I did some deep research online concerning a “bland diet” and fortunately found Dave’s Restricted Bland Diet. I watched his short intro video explaining his philosophy and desire to help dogs stay healthy and was impressed by his honesty and caring attitude.Needless to say, I ordered a case immediately and began Raji’s new diet. It took a few days of only Dave’s Bland Diet and Raji began eating more and keeping it all down. I have doubled his daily intake without witnessing any “gurgling” or weird stomach-churning sounds, previously accompanied every meal. And it was loud enough to keep me awake at night since his bed is in the same room. My dog is on Science Diet Sensitive Stomach kibble which she likes. However, she is on 4 medications and you can’t hide it in kibble. I was using cheese but many times she would eat the cheese and leave the pills. This canned food is great for hiding her meds. She loves it and gobbles it down without sensing the pills. She’s 70lbs so I mix Dave’s with the kibble and she just gobbles it down. I would love to just give her Dave’s but due to her size I would need a lot of cans so I just mix a can with the kibble.

I used to buy Authority bland diet dog food at Petsmart. It was shredded chicken and rice and my dog loved it. Authority apparently quit making it so I have been searching for something similar. Dave's is somewhat similar in the ingredients, however, it is a pate' not shredded but my dog seems to like it. It is kind of expensive though.

I barely cook for myself, so cooking for my dog just seems ridiculous. I've done it, but when she and I were both sick, I knew I needed a better option. I don't know why no one else has jumped on making this, but it doesn't matter when this product is great! I'm picky about what I feed my dog, and this fits the bill when she needs a bland diet. Plus, she thinks it's a treat, so she's more likely to eat it when she's under the weather. 100% worth the money for the combination of quality and convenience. I'll be making sure I always have some on hand for when I need it!

My two dogs had gastrointestinal issues and found this bland food (chicken/rice) on Amazon. Both dogs only eat once a day (at night) and they seem to love this food. I already ordered a 2nd case!

The media could not be loaded. once "pill pouches" are easily recognized and refused. The taste is highly agreeable and healthy with its lower sodium content. The quality, appearance, and smell all add to the convenience of "tricking" our dogs into taking medication. I use Subscribe and Save so, for the money, this is a valuable pantry item.

I bought it for my Chihuahua who is in heart failure. Alone it cannot be used.Three of the cans were dented. They were in the middle of the pack, so whoever packed it knew the cans were dented. A dented can can sometimes compromise the quality of the food.The food is extremely gloppy. Analysis says that it’s 77% moisture.Analysis also says that it provides one percent of crude fiber, I could see where that in itself would cause health problems. A dog needs fiber to move food through the gut.Update: I have continued to use this product, but what is it with all the dented cans?Why can’t the company fix this problem? When you can’t use half of the (expensive ) product unless you’re OK with dented cans, it begins to be a non-viable solution.I will be looking for another manufacturer, who takes their customers and their customer care seriously.Update.
