Works fine.
I've been using it for my tank filled with 6 small newts and it's been working great for like a month or so now.

Nice filter
Love it. Added much needed current to the top of my Fluval Flex 15. Getting another tank, so I'm ordering another one of these filters.

Needs an air diffuser of some sort
No airstone, all the air is pumped in from a single port so the bubbles are big and noisy. It was so loud, I took it back out. I may try to rig up some sort of DIY with a small piece of sponge or mesh at the outlet. Or maybe attach something with multiple small holes to spread out the dispersion? Quality is good, just needs a design tweek to make it quieter. Maybe some people like it this way?

Excellent Design and Function
Using on a pretty heavily stocked fancy goldfish tank and I'm using multiple, but I've had zero issues with them. My Hillstream loaches practically live on the sponges, which is nice from a maintenance perspective. All in all, they just work and being able to place on the back glass is great for keeping the substrate uncluttered.

Good filter
This filter is good and much cheaper than the pet store in our town.

It's great but I think mine is faulty.
I got the air pump one. It works well and does what it needs to. Easy to assemble. My only complaint about this is it seems to sputter and pop a lot of bubbles. I've tried just about everything to get it to stop but it hasn't yet. I have other sponge filters connected to my air pump so I don't think it's the air pump. Idk, it's just slightly annoying and I have to face the out tube to the back of the tank to keep it from popping water all over the place. It does work well, affordable, and I would buy it again, but I think the one I recieved was fault somehow. I've watched other reviews and haven't seen others that are doing that.

Neat Concept
I really like these sponge filters because of the added bio filter containment. I used the ceramic balls as provided in one of these, but the other I have lifted higher in the tank to provide more surface agitation and have the sponge turned upside down, so the bio chamber is also upside down. Some of the ceramic balls fall into the suction area like this so I swapped them out for a cut up sponge floss filter instead which works fine. I had to be careful to fully flood the chamber with tank water when setting it back up though as the suction spot is now at the top of the chamber instead of the bottom. Either way these clearly work as I finally did the first cleaning with them after about a month of letting the tank run and the amount of brown dirtiness that I squeezed out was crazy! I just used a little extra of my already prepped tank water to squeeze and clean both sponges and it worked really well. Definitely worth it for our shrimp and giant betta tank! Only thing I miss about a traditional hob filter was the ability to catch the larger particles of junk and keep them from going back into the tank, but I am able to get most of that with a gravel filter so it's a decent trade off.
