No, this would not work. The blanket switch can be left in the "on" position but you also have to select the desired temperature and timer 0-9 setting which is done manually on the control and always starts at 0 (does not remember the last setting used).

Q: Please could anyone advise me if this throw is heavy ? Only I am saverly disabled and weight is an issue. Thank you.

I've been using this item as a normal blanket over my duvet when it was colder - the lead can be taken out. It has some weight to it but I wouldn't really call it heavy... in fact, it is quite a lot lighter than my full 4 seasons alpaca duvet ... but all of this is relative, so I don't know if that helps.

Q: Does this throw have fur on both sides? (I’ve seen some with one side in fleece)

Its longish fur on one side; the other side is much shorter - but still VERY soft smooth - fur. It's lovely and soft though! Great size too: easily covers both me and the missus on our sofa and we are using it every night just now!
