Natural Gas Detector, Gas Leak Alarm, Propane Detector, Gas Monitor, USB Powered, Sound Light Warning, Digital Display, Suitable for Explosive LPG, LNG, Methane & Butane Gases

As we use LPG I thought this would be a good idea. Hopefully I will never actually need test this in real life, but all seems good. Nice and loud, I just have it plugged in near my cooker.

This is quite a good little compact unit that can easily be placed near to any potential source of gas. Looking at the fitting instructions, I fitted this below my LPG boiler (placement is different for natural gas). As I was unable to safely and lawfully test it with my boiler, I did test the unit by releasing a small amount of gas from one the rings on my LPG hob. I can confirm that the alarm is loud and high pitch - therefore quite unmissable in the case of a leak. It will continue to emit sound as long as it can detect gas. A meter display on the unit shows the concentration of gas which is useful. I tested this by gradually moving the unit away from the cooker and could see the reading decrease all the way to 0.Fitting the unit is easy enough, although that does depend upon whether you have a suitable location near to the source of a potential gas leak. This should not be a problem with natural gas as the unit can be mounted near to the ceiling, but is slightly more problematic for LPG as I found that most useful places were already filled with kitchen units.The alarm does need to be close to a source of power as it is powered via a USB-B cable. However, given that such cables are easily sourced, it would not be a problem if a cable needed to be run for a longer distance.The only real concern is that there is no battery back-up should there be a power cut. Immediately the power cable is removed, the unit shuts down completely.I think that this unit would be most useful in situations where a bottled gas supply is being used. It is also useful for confirming whether a slight smell of gas is actually that.

This item has been marketed as being rechargeable. ITS NOT . It has to be plugged into a power source all this time to work.

The media could not be loaded.  ●the most important, this gas detector works well, realy sensitive, detect the gas almost instantly when it goes over 5% concentration, I tried with a lighter as can be seen in my video. When is over 5% concentration a loudly beeping and a red flash light goes off, if this so, don't turn the light on. To switch off the alarm, the middle button can be pressed, but the room needs to be ventilated and the gas concentration will decrease to normal.●it has a compact design, quite sturdy and is very easy to install. It can be hanged to the wall in two ways, with the screws or using the double sided tape, all provided. Once installed and connected to a power source it needs about 1 minute preheating and that's it.●the detector comes with a wall plug power supply and a really long cable, can also be connected via USB to a power bank which makes it to be portable, very convenient.●now what attracted me the most was that, in description is mentioned about USB charging, not at all, there is also a switch for battery and in the instruction manual is written that a rechargeable 3.7v battery can be used with the detector but I'm quite disappointed. I checked for battery slot, couldn't find it, so I opened the back cover and there is an unfinished slot for it, no chance to put any battery in ( shown in picture)Generally ok, 5 stars for how works and easy to use but 0 for the thing whit the battery.

works really well.My missus can't smell and has left the gas on a few times so this is literally a life saver.Broke wind on it and the alarm went off, couldnt have been happier with my purchase!

The media could not be loaded.  I like the design of this gas detector. I mainly ordered this to situate in an area that is semi enclosed and houses 2 LPG gas cylinders. The LPG gas can escape without harm, but I rather not lose it without some alarm being sounded as a warning.The unit does work well and the screen indicated clearly what is happening from power on, to a preheat cycle, to alarm and fault conditions being indicated visually. The alarm is not very loud and ideally I would have like something much louder that can't be lost in other background sounds.The other drawback is that this device has to be permanently powered by a USB 5v supply. Unlike many other gas detectors that are powered by a long life battery, this needs constant power to operate. So if you have a power cut, it will stop working until power is re-established again.The other downside is that although it comes with a long USB lead, it's a micro-usb connection to the alarm unit. Most modern devices have now advanced onto USB-C that is easier to locate in the socket. The instructions are helpful and indicate clearly how to situate the alarm for different types of gas detection.In summary, it looks good, works well and seems to detect gas leaks effectively, as you will see from my video. However, the downside is that it needs a constant 5v USB power supply and the alarm tone really should be a good deal louder, after all this is an alarm, not a warning!

Tested this over a gas hob and it activated when gas was detected over the threshold.
