Excellent Package For A Movie Favourite
Maverick Director Robert Aldrich's Classic World War Two Movie The Dirty Dozen makes its Debut on The Blu-ray format. I Think The plot of This movie is pretty well known and covered in Detail here with previous reviewers. All I can add here This is The movie were Lee Marvin recruits Twelve violent prisoners for a suicide mission deep behind enemy lines. Think The Magnificent Seven set To war and your There. lots of familiar faces on view making up The Dozen before being immortalised as Telly cop Kojak Telly Savalas as a sadistic killer TV's cowboy legend Cheyenne himself Clint Walker as The Gentle Giant of The group and The ever reliable Charles Bronson playing it as only Bronson can. while The movie was Truly an Oscar winner in all Departments it was olso panned at The Time for its on screen violence. as I mentioned earlier no real need for me To go into any great Detail regards The movies plot I would like To add Though This Special Edition Blu-ray release of The Dirty Dozen comes with a wealth of special features. Most Notable The Dirty Dozen The Next Mission. made Decades after The original movie This made for Telly movie sees Lee Marvin, Ernest Borgnine, & Richard Jaeckel reprise Their roles from The original movie with basically The same plot Marvin recruits Twelve prisoners for a mission beyond enemy lines. unlike The original however The Twelve are really made up of unknown actors with The exception of Larry Wilcox from TVs cop series Chips. Alright it's Never going To compete with The original but in its own way The movie manages To entertain and its great To watch Marvin like he has never been away going Through his role. The Special features continue with an in Depth making of The original movie with comments from Ernest Borgnine and Clint Walker Borgnine olso Does an introduction To The movie which you can opt To play before The start of your feature. finally The movies Excellent Theatrical Trailer and it is a Good Trailer rounds off a pretty Decent package for what is really classed now as a vintage movie. if you like The Guns Of Navarone, Where Eagles Dare, The Dirty Dozen sits right at home with Those movies and at The same Time boasting an Excellent supporting package of Extras comes Highly recommended.

Action, great cast, anti hero war classic.
A classic. Along with Kelly's heroes, very good ww2 usa behind the lines film. The dirty dozen is however a much darker film. Some gallows humour and lots of violence. Lee Marvin perfectly cast. Telly savalas is not a "who loves ya baby" in this film. A sexual psychopath. Charles Bronson his usual calm, tough self. Robert Ryan good as the bad officer v Lee's dirty dozen. Not a film for the squeamish right from the start. But compared to today's blood and gore films, hardly a ketchup bottle in sight. Due to body count I'd say doesn't make war look too good. And as with Kelly's heroes, drum roll, spookily based on true events! (the filthy 13).
