Blue: The Science and Secrets of Nature's Rarest Color

A lovely book introducing the science of what makes things blue.
This is a terrific little book introducing all the science aspects of “Blue” - from the science of light, a little of the psychology and linguistics of color, to the chemistry of plant pigments and physics of structures in animal feathers and scales that make them appear blue. It’s well written in an engaging style, and like the best of popular science, it has a very good bibliography attached (I have read previously many of the works the author cites during my own obsessive studies of the science and culture of color, so it revealed to me that he certainly referenced a large body of work when writing this book). Highly recommended!

Wonderfully researched and explained, just loved this book.
This was such a delightful and greatly detailed book. The science and fascination regarding how we see and appreciate colors was beyond what I expected. History, commerce and social factors are all noted in this very unique study, a lifelong passion of the author. This will be part of my permanent hardcover collection of special books.

Somewhat more technical than expected
The cover shows a gorgeous peacock; a very meaty book. I actually thought I was ordering something else, but it was a lovely surprise for a nonfiction title.

Sizing.
The book itself is nice, however is way smaller that it shows in the pictures... price is also high for this book. Dust page is ok, but the book cover is plain.
