Casio GA700SE-1A4 Black 53.4mm Resin G-Shock GA-700 Men's Watch

Full disclosure I bought this because it looks like the watch from division but went rogue, so a nerdy reason. Was looking for new watches anyway, but I had a theme in my head.Actual review. So I was looking for a watch for work that needed to have analog hands for minutes counting (medical facility), but also water resistant with maybe chemical. My old watch was a metal band stainless steel; I took care of it and washed off any potential corrosive chemicals, but I will miss a spot and eventually it began to corrode. I’ve had a G-shock models in my life going back to 2003 in middle school, so this is a good nostalgia trip.This watch met my basic need including the nerdy look. I overall like it even the slight flaw of the confusing set up, but makes sense now.The band is black on my watch with the skin side red. For me I have found this faster than my truck key fob which was right next to it as the red was well contrasted and noticeable.The face while thick is easy to read as I was already used to analogs. The thickness is a bit much for me as I wear ppe, I have found a way to get it to work. The thickness of the watch has revealed that I do bump it against objects, and I was worried after the first day I scratched my new watch. The saving grace is around the glass is the raised border. The smallest part is 1/8” to 1/4” lip depending where you look. I’m not sure if it was intentionally designed, but my screen has more smudges checking for a potential scratch than a scratch.Setup took longer than I thought. With the manual that came with it and scanning the QR code for the interactive trouble shooting and setup. The correct time was set. When setting up learn from my mistake and find the correct city code/time zone you are in. Mine is LAX (PST) and if the hands are off time press the adjust button (upper left) until the SET HOLD flashes and beeps. You can set the city code there, and the time by the mode button (bottom left) to cycle the options. Mine was off by a couple minutes. The hands will move out of the way when in setup, and once confirmed will adjust itself to the digital time.

The title was a quote from a friend who was admiring my new watch! It is a nice thick G Shock watch with a puny little joke of a "night light". But I don't normally use the light feature on any of my watches, so it's not a problem for me; just saying, don't expect to see much when you press the button.The best, most amazing feature of this watch (at least for me!) is the way you can clear away the sweep hands to see digital viewing area if you are using the stopwatch mode:press and hold the aforementioned light button, and then press the lower left mode option button--the sweep hands will clear out of the way automatically, allowing a full view of the digital screen! I almost returned this watch because I was ignorant of this feature, so I would like to spread the word on this nifty little process! (FYI: it's written in the supplied tiny print owner's operating manual which no one seems to ever read, but I was shown this trick by a friend who owns a similar watch)The only real "downside" to this watch is the lugs around the edge of the watch face; they collect dirt and smudges very easily in the crevices, and can give the face a grimy appearance. You need a crevice tool to clean in there, and it only stays clean as long as you don't pull a sleeve over it. Then again, it will still collect dust or dirt anyway. What the heck, it is a men's watch, not a mirror! Who cares if there's some smudges!Since buying this watch, I find that I prefer it over the other five different types of casual watches I own.It was a great purchase and I'm very pleased with the look and the function!

I originally bought myself a Baby G and I loved mine so much that I bought this model for my bf as a gift. He loves his too. The only complaint he has is that the digital clock is lit up by a small bulb not backlit. The band is extremely comfortable and fits his large wrist nicely with a few notches to spare. I have no fears of him damaging it because it's just so sturdy and I'm sure it'll hold up as well as my own. The black with a pop of red works well with his wardrobe and he wears it with both casual and formal clothes. Love it!

This is a very nice looking (and well made) watch. I ended up having to send it back due to my very large wrist. But this is a cool looking g-shock. You can believe that this Casio is well verified as a watch that is meant for hard work and (especially in this design); looking tight!!! So if you have had few problems with G-Shocks ( and other companies) band length + overall length... then this is a great choice. The red is not too much. The light is the small white led style vs. the better lit versions which have the full dial or units light up vs. just being helped with a single white light source.

Got this for my teenage son to replace an old hand me down G-Shock that I had given him. Big fan of the G-Shock line, he wanted something large (apparently that's what's in style these days, I wouldn't know lol) and with analog hands; this definitely fit the bill. The backlight is really the only negative but it is a BIG negative IMO, this massive screen with only a small light a the bottom shining up really isn't functional. He doesn't seem to mind as much as I do, but again I feel that's because it's more a fashion than a function thing for him. If they replaced the light with a glow like many of the other G-Shocks have this would be an amazing piece of hardware.
