What you see is not what you get. The sheath is *not* not tanned leather.
The item shown is "tanned" leather, and the description also says "tanned" leather. But that's not what I received. Instead, I received a pasty white, un-tanned, unfinished, anemic looking sheath. Not only is it un-tanned and unfinished, but there are no belt loops, despite holes on the back for the belt loops. So the item I received was not as described, although it is good leather and well made. Just not finished or tanned.

The first thing is that the picture shows an oiled leather hatchet cover, and what arrives is so stiff the snap won't even hold the flap down over the hatchet. Secondly, who ever heard of a sheath that doesn't have a belt loop on it? There are 4 holes where I can mount my own I suppose, but it seems like that kind of information should be disclosed.

Well made and recommend.
Perfect hatchet cover, belt link is stiff but functional. Snap is crisp but useable. Stitching/riveting seem strong. Appears good for years of service camping and hiking.
