I originally bought this item in July 2018, and after more than six years of regular [daily/weekly] use, I'm finally replacing it - with a new version of the same device. It's been excellent in its role as a space saving countertop multipurpose grill and sandwich maker. I didn't use the waffle plates as much, but when I did, they worked fine. The key is what you expect from it. This item works best as a way to prepare single person meals. I've used it to make toast, fry eggs, make "pancakes" as well as waffles, as a panini press, to heat up veggie patties ... it's quite versatile. It heats quickly and cooks fairly well. The plates are not difficult to switch out and are easily cleaned. I use an oil spritzer for even oiling and have had few problems with food sticking over the years. My only real problem was with the plates getting scratched, and when I wrote to Ovente they were able to provide me with replacements. When I noticed some uneven heating today - something that has never been a problem before - I found what appears to be a cracked lower element. After 6+ years of nearly daily use, I can accept this as a reasonable end of life cycle, and will replace with a new one. In terms of value for money, I think I've done okay with this product.

I think I might have found the issue that all of these reviewers are having, where their sandwich doesn't brown properly. You have to make sure that the oil/butter/etc. that you coat the plates with is hot BEFORE you put your sandwich on!! Cool oil will always just soak into whatever you're cooking it with and get all soggy; it's not a flaw of the product, it's cooking technique. This applies to coating the sandwich with butter/etc.; coat the plates, let them sit a little, THEN put the sandwich/whatever it is you'd like on. That being said! —Grill is VERY good for paninis, as shown above!! —I haven't tried the waffle iron yet, but can't imagine I'll have any issues given how well the grill works —A couple of negatives: closure is a little flimsy so don't overstuff it TOO much; it's also a pain to clean if you get stuff down in the crevices. Also, you do have to watch it (it won't shut off when finished), so be sure to set a timer. HOWEVER, I didn't knock off any stars for these because the first two aren't an issue when handling it properly, and the third doesn't bother me because at this price point, for it to do the rest of everything super well is all I could ask. Just make sure to treat it well and you won't have problems. :)

I was so excited to use this. Followed all of the instructions. Washed the removable plates with plain warm water & non abrasive sponge. Plugged in, snapped the latch closed & red light came on immediately. Checked after 10 minutes & only the red light was on. Waited a few minutes later & the red light was on & where the “green” light should be was an amber color light that was also on. The “green one” was suppose to be on by itself & that is when you know it is ready. Occasionally as food comes to temperature both lights may come on but then the red one will go off once it reaches temperature again. That never happened. I had a solid red OR the red & amber (green side) were on together. The unit did get warm but after 20 minutes my mushrooms were not even slightly cooked. 😳 That was with the lid shut & locked. The plates seem a little thinner than previous brands I have owned. I will be contacting customer service on Monday & see how this goes. At least if they don’t make this right I can contact Amazon & return that way. Stay tuned for an update. Sorry for my voice. I had a vocal implant surgery so it’s different talking right now. But I wanted to share.

Heating performance is not good, takes forever to make waffles.

This was a great replacement for our previous toaster oven. The old one had been around for awhile, and it's time had come.The new works great and the controls are laid out well. The best part is the foot print is smaller and it takes up less counter top. It's also lower and the plug outlets behind it are easier to reach. A great up grade.

This is great for making just about anything you can make on a barbecue. We have used it for steaks bacon wings etc. Also having different parts to change what it is you are making. You get grill you get a grilled cheese maker and you also get a waffle maker. It has definitely come in handy on those rainy summer days where we wanted to barbecue. I personally recommend this.

Cumple bien las tres funciones. Las planchas intercambiables hacen fácil su limpieza. No se pega nada hasta ahora, pero procuro limpiarlo con estropajos no abrasivos para que dure más el acabado. Me parece una excelente compra y estoy muy satisfecho con este aparato.
