Simply Masterful- IQRA
Dr. Bilal Rudolph T. "Butch" Ware provides a spectacularly masterful historical analysis and commentary in this beautiful work. I just finished reading it, and I have too many things on my mind and in my heart right now.I strongly suggest this piece of scholarship to anyone interested in African history and/or Islam. Rudolph Ware is a name to retain as this brilliant scholar's keen intellect is truly promising and displays unlimited potential in "truthfully" and sincerely recounting the African History. For complementing background information/insight on the man and what shaped(s) him, I would suggest to google his name and watch all possible videos (and listen to all audios) you could about Dr. Rudolph Ware. I would also suggest reading his wife's superb book: "Fire and Clay".Dr. Rudolph Ware: All praise is due to Allah for having inspired and guided you to undertake and finish this work. Thanks to your family for supporting you and being patient with you throughout the process. In sha Allahu, the best is yet to come for you and from you. I offered a copy of this book to Serigne Mountakha (Khalif General of the Murridiyah), and I'm sure he would enjoy it.Dieuridieuf Serigne Touba. One.

Wonderful Work!
I absolutely LOVE this book. It is a book that approaches Africa, Islam and Spirituality from a non-orientalist, non-colonialist perspective. It acknowledges the preservation of traditional Islam by a forgotten and oft-ignored people (Sub-Saharan Africans). The walking Qur'an examines the strategically formulated and often assumed opinions of Islamic practices and traditions in West Africa and their validity and close proximity to the way of the beloved prophet Muhammad (may peace and blessing be upon him). This book is a very refreshing scholarly body of work and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for Islamic traditions, preserved.

Well worth the time
An enormously important work that fills in the gaps as they relate to intellectual production in sub-Saharan Africa. This work is formidable and will be referrenced by serious scholarship going forward.
