Q: Can my cat drink from this?

Hello, thanks for your question. I think is a good idea to treat it as a pet waterer, but you need to change water frequently and clean the fountain sink to keep the water clean enough.

Q: Typically, how often does the water need to be refilled?

It depends on its placement and temperature of the room. On warmer days the water seems to dry out faster. I refill on average every 2 days. And I let it run non-stop, except for when I leave town then I unplug it and dump out the water.

Q: How big is the ball? Is the ball removablr so we can clean

5 inches in diameter, is made of plastic but looks like stone, yes - it is fastened to a tray on the bottom but the tray and ball can be lifted out of the large tray on the bottom for cleaning. I have been filling it with distilled water since our tap water here is very hard and i didnt want it to get stained with calcifications.
