Q: Can I use this without the inner drain basket?

Hi there! We recommend using the countertop compost bin with the basket to ensure the best performance. You can use the kitchen compost bin without the inner drain basket. However, the lid may not seal as securely without the basket.

Q: Can this be used to make compost inside for house plants? I don't have a garden or outside compost.

Hi there! Our kitchen compost bins are not suitable for making compost inside the house. Its primary purpose is temporarily storing kitchen food waste for easy disposal in a city or backyard compost bin.

Q: Will this help reduce black fly larvae (white grub/maggots)? I realize they’re healthy & important, just don’t want them in the house.

Well, I got tiny little maggots from fruit flies, but I had fruit out on counter top before putting in the bin. I would put a plastic film over the too seal as well. These maggots were smaller than rice kernals and were able to crawl out of the bin.
