Great melodic rock album!
This is a great hard rock album with great vocals, guitars and well placed flourishes of keyboards. Songs are very melodic with great catchy choruses. This is a great 'replica' reissue by Music on CD.

Excellent band, stunning vocals
Excellent band, stunning vocals ,Very good songs only to be slightly over produced but this seems to be standard practise in the late 80's with whitesnake 1987 coming to mind. But overall a very very good album.

Top power rock music of its time...
Out of Guiffria came House of Lords, I was a kid at the time and loved the whole pomp and circumstance of House of Lords. This is a great album to play loud and drink beer to along with the other House of Lords contemporary albums such as Sahara and Demons Down, Power and The Myth (which got a bit of stick but I still rate it).Only James Christian remains from those early line ups, and his voice is standing up really well, and I still love 'em but the music has moved on a tad. So if you are into current House Of Lords (I'm listening to New World - New Eye's right this second) do not expect exactly the same from the late 80's variant, but you should try.....

All times classic AOR album
Keyboard player Gregg Griuffria came into the picture with the US band Angel. Their first album was a strong effort, real prog rock, with lots of organ, piano and synthesizers. Later album were not as good, more girly pop songs than hard rock (I am sure had they followed that direction in combination with their magic shows, they would have been huge), the band floundered at last. Griuffria soldiered on with a new outfit which took his name but met not the succes of the predecessor and was disbanded. On its remains was founded House of Lords. This, their first, self titled album is a smash! Each song is as good as the others, from start to finish. The only bonus track, a remix of one of the original songs, does not add anything to it. Why this band did not make it is beyond me. I can reckon only a few albums from this time and kind of music that can match the sheer quality of this solid album. Thereafter the band was plagued by many leaving band members, to the point that even Griuffria took his leave .Later albums lack the same finesse, in the songwriting and the way they are played. The sparkle from the first album is missing. That leaves us to this tremendous good debut album, which has stood time easily. The band was in particulary good shape, with a fine singer and instrumentalists. Although is it somewhat lesser prog rock but more stadium rock, AOR if you like, but in the best mode possible. It hasn't lost it power and can be listened to all times. It won't come better to you!.
