The metal handles will not brake as easy as plastic handles.
If I have a fire I don't want the handle to brake when I use it after several years,

There are a lot of reviews where people received damaged extinguishers due to poor packaging or rough handling in shipping. I'm happy to report that mine arrived in perfect condition. The amazon packaging wasn't great but the manufacturer packaging was quite good so perhaps they have improved their process.

Packaging is poor
The packaging was smashed. The steel extinguisher was in good shape and still pressurized. The the aluminum handle was bent and broken off. There are two pins: the regaining pin and the hinge pin. The retaining pin was badly bent. The hinge pin looked like an aluminum pop rivet about 1" long. The handle was all bent up. Fortunately, I was able to repair everything with a steel table as a plate and a ball peen hamer to straighten the handle and retaining pin. I replaced the hinge bin with an appropriately sized nail, cut it to length and bent the end to stop it from falling out. All is well, but they need to improve their packing. It weighs 10 lbs and I'm sure it gets thrown around pretty well in transport.

Packaging should have been better
The extinguisher itself is fine, packaging was horrible. A huge box with the small box flopping around, pin was almost all the way out from banging around. Almost discharged in the box. Smh.

Given that I'm never going to know how good this product is until the day I need to use it, touch wood fingers crossed, never! Good price and rapid shipping.

It's heavy.
I received mine in excellent conditon. I hope I never have to use it but if I do, I trust it works as well as it looks. Remember, its a bit on the heavy side. Maybe two 5 lbs units will suit you better. Your choice.

It's the best
10 years ago I got an old discharged one of these, had it recharged and till this day it's still fully charged.That's quality. And that's why I bought a second one, times are changing so good to be safe.Update.I just checked the date on the maintenance tag on the old one and it was last recharged in 2004. It's 2022 so that's 18 years and still fully charged and it was second hand when I recharged it.
