I saw some meh reviews, but I wonder if people know to uses a little soap or glycerin on the outside of the mold when they demold the pieces. I didn't have any issues at all.I have not used the chessboard mold yet, although I am concerned that it doesn't lay as flat as it seems it ought to. It was shipped folded in half. I'll test it out at a later date.It is nice to have molds with full-sized pieces and enough molds to make a full set at a time. Yet, they aren't so big that it costs a fortune in resin to make them. I may use these pawn molds for another set where the pawns are ridiculously big relative to the other pieces.

***UPDATE 5-22-24***I have finished one set of pieces and am very happy with the way they turned out. (Be sure to follow all toys out there for filling a chess piece mold.) Using alcohol sprayed into mold makes for super easy removal, but give them a full 24 to 36 hours to cure before demolding. So the pieces are good, BUTI have had ZERO response regarding the board, very disappointing. VERY VERY disappointing. Buy this for the pieces only, throw the board away.*** ORIGINAL REVIEW FOLLOWS ***1ST THE POSITIVECHESS PIECES - I literally just received this set and unboxed it. The molds for the pieces look great, the size of the pieces are great- I will update the review once I have my first set demolded.NOW for the negative and it is a negative that outweighs the positive....in some ways... more on that later...Look at the pictures... this moldy is thin and flimsy - it was folded in half in the shipping box - it is majorly deformed all the way around - it will be impossible to get a straight edge out of this mold, unless I want to spend a ton of time building a frame to keep the edges in line.... NOT GOING TO DO THATInstead I will purchase a REAL board mold from Crafted Elements that has very thick and straight walls, at a very high price, but I have to assume worth it since this is the second supplier selling deformed and flimsy chess boards on Amazon.Now to what I referenced earlier...IF this had only been a set of chess pieces, for the same price, I would be giving this 5 stars and a raving review. How can a company include something so cheap in the same box as what appears to be quality piece molds?Now, if the company wants to send replacement board that they can guarantee will not be deformed and prove this is a fluke, I will change the review.But already I know there is NO WAY they can ship this board mold, folded in half, and it not be deformed when it arrives.And this board is a nice size too, fitting the size of the pieces, but wow, such a shoddy product is beyond belief.I hope the piece molds work out good.

My epoxy bubbled a little but that had nothing to do with the molds. The de-molding was difficult with the Queen and especially the King. The freshly poured molds need some support or rack as the bases of the large pieces ( K & Q ) lean during a pour and came out crooked and wobbly on the board or table. I have not cast a board yet, but it appears very flimsy and does not lay flat. Based on other reviews, I may or may not try to pour a chessboard. The pieces from this taller mold set do look great. I had been looking for a complete set when I found this one. I also am looking for other styles, however, as an amateur, this one seems to meet my needs. I do like it.

I purchased 4 of these and am disappointed with each one. The pieces are amazing. The silicon is durable and are larger that typical chess pieces which I love. But the boards are cheaply made, almost like they used a lower quality silicone and will not lay flat...NONE OF THEM! The amount of time it takes to make this board usable is not work the trouble. If it weren't for the pieces, I would return them.

They were the size I was looking for and they hold up well. Not super easy to get some of the pieces out of the molds, but I’m sure that’s what makes them last for multiple uses. I can’t comment on the mold for the board because I didn’t use it.

The pieces are perfect and huge ! Bigger than expected ! Perfect 🤩Only thing is chess board mold doesn’t lay entirely flat so resin does spill onto other squares during first pour other than that I love it !

The chess pieces are great, however the board won’t lay completely flat and your resin leaks all over into squares next to them. Very frustrating.

It came to me a little box and the board mold was bent/folded in half. I’ve struggled to keep it flat when pouring. I’ve only attempted 2 pours and have had some issues with it because it will not lay completely flat and the resin floats. I’ve decided to leave it alone for awhile because it’s too expensive to keep trying unsuccessfully. I’m hoping it will flatten over time and I’ll try again then.

Love, love the size of this set. Perfect. The downside is the board which is not level and even laying on flat surface did not improve it.

It warped and does not lay flat, so there is no way to get your chess board straight and the squares don’t fill up evenly and end up pulling into each other! What a mess! Do not buy!!!

Chess board mould arrive warped and no matter how much effort was used the mould would not stay flat, without doubt the worst silicone mould I had ever bought or used.. I have given this a 1star because that was lowest rating possible.

The molds for the pieces are decently made with good support....HOWEVER, having said that, each and every cavity of the pieces, has little flecks of debris. It took just over an hour to clean out the 16 pieces. The board itself was folded, as such there is a significant crease down the centre of the board where it was folded. The next problem is that as good as the pieces were for support....the board mold, has none. The silicone border is so thin and flimsy that if you do try to fill to capacity in one pour, the sides will collapse and you will have resin all over the place. IF you tried making this in 2-3 pours, the final layer will cause the edges to fan out, leaking resin in to the previous cured pours. I gave this a 2 star rating ONLY for the pieces, and in truth, I would have given the pieces only, a higher rating if not for the fact that I had to clean them extensively before use. So, in order to use this successfully you will need to create a frame to keep the board sides from collapsing. One final complaint, is that although the size of the board is larger than most molds, it is still too small for the pieces that came with. So when finished, the board will be overcrowded, making it difficult to pick up and move the pieces without knocking over neighbouring pieces.
