This stand is very stable even with my standard-sized projector. The base is heavy enough and large enough to provide a steady support for the projector. It is sturdy, with the arm permanently attached to the base. On the flip side, this makes it less fit for a portable stand, takes quite a bit of volume and it adds significantly to the luggage weight.The one significant drawback is the adjustment mechanism: a ball-head articulation with a tightening screw. It works and it is simple and sturdy, but adjusting the orientation of the projector is quite painful. Especially for a standard-sized projector, reaching underneath for tightening and keeping the projector steady is anything but easy. I ended up leveling the stand with stacks of paper as shims (spam mail finally got put to good use), which means the base is not in full contact with the hard surface it sits upon, and thus less stable, negating one main quality of the stand. I guess the real solution is to be less discriminate and accept that slightly slanted images on a large screen are not that bad, after all.

I bought this device to mount a large camera I use for recording video to. I wanted to make sure that I had a device like this (not a tripod) for desktop use. Because the DSLR I use is so big and heavy I had to make sure that I had a heavy duty base that would support the weight of the camera. Having a secure footing for the camera is important to me because I don't want to damage my device. I wanted a mount that would be stable and not flip over.This device went beyond what I needed and expected, whish is a good thing. The heavy duty base is sturdy and weighty. It has easily met my expectations as a mount for my camera and I know that it would support even some of the larger cameras, or projectors you can mount to a device like this.Overall, the stand is strong, has a good weight to it, and is made of high quality materials.
