The Beauty of Young Men is their Strength; Great Action Movie
I like leaping and feats of incredible athletic prowess, and there was plenty there. Early in the movie is a great parkour chase with David Belle. Later in the movie another fabulous parkour scene. My favorite type of action. There were also car chases and fist fights that guys will enjoy.Lots of strong, beautiful young men.- Paul Walker, gorgeous. Surprised he was so athletic and could do flips. So sad we lost him.- David Belle. Although French, I could detect no French accent although it would only have added to the movie if he had had one. What an incredible athlete!!! His leaping moves and upper body strength, flexibility and agility amazing. One scene, where he approaches a combatant with fencer type steps - amazing. The coiled strength and control I could see in his body I have only seen in large cats.- Robert Maillet - GIANT! 6'10", 350 pounds. Perfectly proportioned. Amazing!- Marc-Andre Boulanger - 6'2", 225 pounds - great body. Work of art.All the male cast had impressive bodies.Lovely black actress, Ayisha Issa, cast in a demeaning role of a black woman prostitute. I do not like that stereotype of black women perpetuated. Ayisha is lovely and a good actress and deserves better roles.Cataline Denis plays a violent Hispanic woman. When I was growing up, unheard of for a woman to fight another woman. I hate those scenes. She is a good actress, but her character only a one dimensional unpleasant person.I do not like fighting or meanness, especially in women. Also, would prefer black men not to be portrayed as criminals.Forty years ago in the towns I lived in, white people expected black women to be prostitutes or on welfare, and black men to be thieves and criminals. I would prefer those stereotypes not to be perpetuated.

Warning: Digital Copy expired
I love this movie. You should absolutely watch it. The story is fun and the action is off the chain. Paul Walker and David Belle are great and they play fantastically off each other. But nowhere on this listing does it say the digital copy of the movie has expired. And I learned the hard way over a ton of emails that 20th Century Fox will NOT give you a replacement code like most companies will.If the expiration date is not listed in the photos of the item or in the description, and there's no recourse other than returning the movie, that's deceptive marketing imho.I mean, if you pay for 2 things you shouldn't have to settle for 1, right? But like I said. The movie is great. If the digital copy doesn't matter to you, then definitely buy it.

Remake of District 13 falls short.
This movie is based on the French movie, "District 13," a absolutely great action adventure, that takes place in the near future, where poor neighborhoods are just walled up and forgotten. It's a little reminiscent of the, "Escape From" movies with Kurt Russell, but with really a really cool style of French Martial Arts, deftly preformed by David Belle, who reprises his role in this American version, starring Paul Walker in one of his final movies. Here Paul plays cop who begins to sympathizes with the citizens of the district, and his convict partner, who has been railroaded by the system. This is a character we've seen from Walker before, but he plays the part so well, we don't mind. However, it's obvious martial arts are not in his wheelhouse. While the story is okay, it doesn't have the edge of the French version, even though both screenplays were written by Luc Besson. If you want to see a good movie, watch District 13, if you want to see Paul Walker in one of his final roles than watch this, either way you'LL be entertained.

One Part "Escape from New York" + One Part "Fast and Furious" + Three Parts Parkour Stuntwork = Frenetic Action Movie
Forget the dialogue, plot and characters; this movie is about parkour - the activity of running up walls, jumping across rooftops, swinging the body over empty spaces, etc.the movie opens with a fearless vigilante, Lino, trying to upset the drug empire of Big Dog in the Detroit of the Not So Distant Future. In that future, because of out of control crime rates in the slums, civil government has withdrawn from ghettos like "Brick Mansions," and have left them to stew in their own juices behind high walls and military check points. Paul Walker's Collier is a Detroit detective who wants justice in a very corrupt systems. He is sent into Brick Mansions because - shades of "Escape from New York" - a neutron bomb has been hijacked by Big Dog. So, Collier and Lino hook up to take on Big Dog, who has kidnapped Lino's ex-girlfriend. The two engage in improbable stunts, fight each and eventually work up a respect for each other. The stunts are where the heart of this movie is. Most of the stunts are wildly improbable, and you just have to go with the flow. If you can't, or if your "willing suspension of disbelief" meter trips in the absence of nuanced characters or sharp dialogue, or in the presence of not very good sound qualities, then skip this movie. On the other hand if you liked "The Fast and Furious" or you like a movie that is basically an extended parkour stunt sequence, which were actually jaw dropping most of the time, then this is your movie.I was feeling charitable and gave it "four stars," but I could have easily given it three.

Disppointed
Bought one disc, didnt load on my player. Seller sent a second disc after I updated my disc player's firmware. Second disc didn't work/load either after player update. Seller sent 2 return labels for both movies, neither were valid to the date listed on the email and expired before I could return them. I gifted one to a friend and spent $175 on a new Blu-ray player so I could watch it, and just paid for the second movie (this I expected from the seller for not returning in the time allocated).

Man sollte lieber "Ghetto Gangz" gucken.

Not a match for it's french counterpart.
A fun movie, but if you're expecting to be anywhere near as good as District B-13 then you're in for disappointment. If you're a fan of David Belle and Paul Walker it's nice to add to the collection.
