I didn't really believe this wool protector would do the job protecting the mattress but was willing to try as I was looking for only organic, natural bedding for my baby. This product is great, nothing but wool. Couldn't be happier. It protects the mattress perfectly from accidents. It never failed. We've had it for 2 years now and I would definitely buy it again. I did wash it on cold and air dried when I first got it. It did shrink, but it still works fine in the crib. I recommend following the instructions though and do not wash.

I had intended it to give some insulation & protection (beyond just a sheet) to the skin from the waterproof mattress but, I wish it were thicker, the kid still sweats through this against the waterproof mattress.The care instructions say not to wash this (just air it out). I would definitely agree with this, and airing it out should work. it does not look like the wool was shrunk so I'm pretty sure that after a washing it would no longer fit the mattress perfectly.

Love this mattress pad. I sleep better knowing my little guy is not breathing toxic whatnot from typical synthetic and chemicaly-treated pads and bedding - and I know he does too.
