Highly recommended
I love this DAP, I use it with a 512gb micro SD card, playing my own music which is either flac 16/44.1 or Hi-Res up to 24/192 or dff DSD files & the sound is amazing. I use with my old Sennheiser HD650's & the Hiby music app. I have also tried with UAPP which sounds great but no better than the Hiby app, but UAPP also has excellent Tidal integration, so if you are a Tidal user go for UAPP. I also stream Amazon music HD via the Amazon app & the sound is great.Streaming music from a NAS via the Hiby app is a breeze, also away from WiFi I connect to my phones 4g hotspot and stream Amazon HD if I want to, as long as there is a 4g signal I can stream in HD.I also tried it with Neutron player which is a great audio player, but the sound is no better than the hiby app (I don't use EQ or any DSP) so I stick to the basic Hiby app & listen in bit perfect.Line out to my pre-amp is amazing, so I can listen to Amazon Music HD on my main system.Screen is very responsive, comes with a screen protector fitted from factory & one fitted to the back of the device plus a robust plastic cover which still ensures the device is easy to use.Good quality charging cable which I plug into a linear PSU when hooked up to my amp so I don't need to worry about the battery running down.Looking forward to trying out the 4.4mm balanced output once I get a cable, but even without that, it's a great product, powers the Sennheisers effortlessly, great sound even at very low volumes. Typically I am listening at 40/100 volume & it is plenty loud enough. On standby it uses very little power so I just leave on permanently.Nothing negative to say about this player, if you're into high end audio & have some decent headphones, you can't go wrong.

DIABOLICAL buttons and case compounds problem.
The media could not be loaded. Very poorly designed, button placement, soft operation and case design. Player cannot be held in any normal fashion, without accidentally activating buttons. Absolutely useless. Issues could have been addressed and solved, using a thicker case with button cutouts. HiBy have done much better in previous designs.

Great DAP
I started off with a FiiO M11 but returned it because it was buggy. It’s replacement I choose as the Hiby R6 pro and I am glad I did.It has a fast cpu so the android OS does not feel laggy. Everything just works, from its built in player to streaming from Qobuz. No issues. Some points though. Because it has a fast and hungry cpu, and doesn’t have a “music only” mode like some DAPs, it’s battery life can be a bit shorter than the claims from Hiby. 5-6 hours playback if using the balanced output is my average. That’s with WiFi on too. I’ve had 8 hours with WiFi off and just playing music from the storage, around 50% volume. It also does suffer from interference from phones and WiFi routers if next to them. Not noticeable when playing a track but when changing tracks there can be some digital noise. So be mindful not to have it right next to your phone.Apart from those points, I’m more than happy with it. Sound quality is amazing, beats the FiiO. The 4.4mm balanced output is powerful enough to drive planar headphones too.

Very good overall, as long as you're not using it with amazon music application.
Bulky, heavy but sounds very good, has full android so you can install pretty much anything on it (that's android compatible).Side buttons do not work with amazon music so I switched to Tidal which has perfect compatibility in my experience, also, amazon music for reasons that even amazon support couldn't help with won't let me download any music for offline listening in any format other than mp3 which defeated the point for me.Not too good if using headphones (as opposed to earphones) as most tend to have a higher power requirement than the R6 Pro can deal with effectively but any IEM's (earphones) work well.Overall, I'm glad I purchased this device.

Best DAP under £1200
I compared this to a Cayin N7 and to my ears this definitely sounded better. The N7 is a bit more analytical whereas this was just more enjoyable. Adding to that a modern ui, big screen, slim (compared to N7) it was a no brainier. It does get hot but battery life has been excellent. Button placement is definitely silly as many have mentioned and just bin the supplied case, I got a clear one off Ebay which is so much better.I look forward to comparing this to DAPs in the 2k range and have no doubt this will hold its own. If HiBy release a new version of this with a volume knob and better button placement, it will be game over for DAPs in £1-1.5k range.

New Hiby R6 Pro ii
Purchased the r6 pro ii over 2 weeks ago. Absolutely love it. The sound stage and detail is top notch. My only criticism is the lack of a volume wheel. I am a bit concerned about the previous reviews on this item as not one mentions the r6 pro 2 by model, or name. What concerns me even more is the fact that the NEW R6 Pro 2 release date was May 2023!! Reviews are dated 2020?! Ummmm.

Whoops, Whoops, Wh
I just can't understand how an engineering team can be so brilliant and totally mess up the buttons. If you touch it, you will hit a button.Really gets annoying. This is big.Nobody noticed this?Maybe I will cover my buttons with some bubble gum. Yup, I bet that will help.WhoopsUPDATE: It seems to me that one is supposed to have the Users Manual for this thing embedded in our DNA. There really needs to be some instructions for this other than the couple hundred word pamphlet I was directed to. I can manage some decent sound from it, but, I do not always know what is happening due to the lack of a USERS MANUAL. If I missed something, please show me. You are granted tiny hints if you ask nicely, but, that is not a USERS MANUAL.PLEASE, provide more than you have. For $750, I want some printed material i can play along withAnd for God's sake, can you provide a simple software button lock. You have heard the complaints, now, get on with your job.I am truly sliding past apathy towards this thing and leaning into some nasty thoughts.I want what should have been there. I think a much lesser model would have sufficed.

Thinking About a Streamer for your Home HiFi Stereo? Get This Instead!
Unlike most people who buy DAPs like these, my primary use case is not for music on the go/while traveling. I've been looking into buying a media streamer for my home stereo system, and had honed in on the Eversolo DMP-A6 as well as Fiio's R7, since those are the only two units that will stream Apple Music high-resolution lossless bit-perfectly. After much consideration, it suddenly occurred to me that there may be portable digital audio players with the same capability, with the key thing being to find one that can be remote-controlled from another device (nobody wants to get up and walk to the stereo to change tracks, or run extremely long interconnects across the room!). After extensive research, I finally decided on HiBy's R6 Pro II for a multitude of reasons:1) HiBy's HiByCast app allows me to remote-control the R6 Pro II from the comfort of my seat using my iPhone or my iPad2) The DAC in the R6 Pro II is AKM's top of the line dual 4499EX+4191EQ chipset, capable of decoding up to DSD1024 and up to PCM1536, essentially future-proofed (it also unfolds MQA if you're into that kind of naughty stuff), allowing me to remove the external DAC I have been using from my stereo chain (a Denafrips Ares II that I am giving my dad)3) The R6 Pro II, as of firmware version 1.3, has a fully customizable, universal parametric equalizer built into the OS, which allows me to remove the DBX 31-band graphic equalizer unit from my stereo chain, which I was using for room correctionFor the price, you get ALL of the software functionality of something like an Eversolo or Fiio streamer, with a superior DAC, superior DSP capabilities, and same or lower entry price! Not only that, but it's portable, so you can take your music with you to go by simply matching it to a decent set of headphones (I have tested both, my Sennheiser/Drop HD6XX cans as well as my Tangzu Zetian Wu x HBB IEMs on the R6 Pro II and they both sound great, especially with the integrated amplifier set to Class A, with high gain for the cans and low gain for the IEMs). Besides using Apple Music to stream high-res lossless music, I also have a 512GB microSD card installed with DSD music that I listen to using the included HiByMusic app. Everything simply sounds great!!!I hook the unit up to my stereo chain using a 4.4mm balanced to XLR stereo cable that I bought elsewhere here on Amazon, straight to the balanced inputs on my Gustard H16 preamp, but I have also tested it directly to the balanced inputs on my pair of Fosi ZA3 monoblocs driving KEF LS50 Meta loudspeakers and it sounds great either way. I ended up choosing to keep the H16 in the chain because the RCA line level outputs on it sound much better than the subwoofer outs on the ZA3s for my SVS SB-3000 sub, plus I prefer controlling the volume using a separate remote rather than launching the HiByCast app just to adjust volume.I must say, I did run into one bit of a hiccup, which was when the 1.3 firmware was released, the automatic updater kept failing, so I was forced to do a full factory reset and then the firmware update worked fine. Luckily, the only app/data I installed that didn't come preloaded was Apple Music, so it was not a big deal to perform wipe/factory reset, but there was that. No product is perfect, but this one comes pretty darn close!

Best Dap under $1000
This became my best source and daily driver. If you're a heavy IEM user. This is for you. Hiby zagged when everyone zigged. They specifically tone down the power output to eliminate noise and distortion. Unless you have power hungry planar headphones. You don't need to worry.Using the best release from AKM is an amazing choice. I prefer full body and warmth colorization. Very subtle though. Their smart EQ, MSEB, is a God send. No other brand do it better than Hiby. Takes a lot of guessing away for EQ novices Even has PEQ.6 inch screen with Android 12. Latest Bluetooth chip.Only downsides are:1. Battery Life. It will only last you several hours from full charge to 20% with wifi on. No bluetooth. Even with class A amp off.Worry about the lifespan of this battery.Just have to be disciplined to never overcharge - Not over 90%. And Never let it go below 15% charge.2. Gives off a lot of Heat. Especially in the summer. I took the leather case off. Otherwise, it might overheat. If you live in all year round hot places, then think twice about this dap.Unless you're only planning to use it indoors most of the time with AC on.Much less of a worry in cold places. Like Canada haha
