Classic Cold War black comedy; Kubrick's best film?
I have long been torn between this and 2001: A Space Odyssey as vying for the title of Kubrick's best movie. Having watched the former again, I would have to call it a draw.Dr Strangelove brilliantly dissects the insanity of "Mutually Assured Destruction" , the Cold War policy that led to the ability to wipe out the human race many times over. Sadly, nothing has been learnt from it. Nuclear arsenals remain. Perhaps this film should be mandatory viewing for political leaders who have control of such things.Peter Sellars gives some of the best film performances of his career as an RAF officer, then deranged Nazi scientific adviser to his portrayal of a US president. The film looks very good in this 1080p version.

Sellers and kubricks masterpiece
Sellers masterpiece. Probably the greatest comic performance in film supported by a superb cast and production. It's genuinely hard to know that Dr Stranglove is a satire nevermind that three of the main characters are played by the same person. It's churlish to try and decide which one of sellers characters is the best when he was prostrating three all in one film.

This film has stood the test of time and I had forgotten how brilliant Peter Sellers was.
Watched the film with our grandsons 14 and 12; they enjoyed it a lot.

Not as funny as we remembered it
Definitely not to be watched with two teenage girls. By the end of it one was rather desperate and the other asleep.A few funny moments, but not as funny as one of us remembers it from 35 years ago.

Classic parody
As relevant a parody of nuclear deterrent as always.

Relevant now, or what?
There's nothing beyond all the superlatives already offered that I can say. However, it would seem as though whoever was asked to write the blurb which accompanies the 4K download on Amazon has not actually seen it but has been told about it by someone else. I quote "Stanley Kubrick's classic black comedy about a group of war-eager military men who plan a nuclear apocalypse..." what is this GROUP of MEN? It is ONE man!!! That blurb makes the film sound like a modern day, generic action thriller...and it really isn't.
