RaypakPressure Switch RP2100 with Plastic Header 006737F

My pool heater which may be as old as the pool (1990) had the old Barksdale "the little general" switch labeled .5-5.0 PSI. I knew it was the problem because when I jumpered the contacts together, I didn't get the PRS (pressure) error and the heater ran. I ordered this switch because it was an official Raypak part. It worked perfectly and took 2 minutes to install. It even came in an official Raypak sealed parts bag. I know several others were looking for the old style all metal switch. This is appears to be the new design and it works fine. The manifold is reinforced plastic anyway, so an all metal switch probably isn't necessary.

13yr old Raypak. No codes, pilot remains on but for some reason always had trouble igniting the burners and staying on. Sometimes it’d work, other times it would. No consistency. I quite literally spent countless hours online troubleshooting and last Weekend was ready to shell out $2500 for a new heater. Decided to disassemble the heater just to take a look at the heat exchanger and burned tray. Shockingly, they were in real good shape for being 13 years old. So I decided to throw parts at it since the heat exchanger is the the most expensive thing to replace. I guess I got lucky by replace the pressure switch first cause everything if working like a charm. If you’re a DIYer and semi handy, don’t get ripped off from a pool boy trying to sell you a new heater. I don’t know naybting about Hayward heater but Raypak are incredibly easy to tear apart and reassemble. Learned a lot and saved myself at least $2400+.

Solved all of my problems. Super easy to install.

Easy to install - just turn off the pump, close the main valve, unscrew the old one and unhook the wires, screw this in its place, reattach wires, and open the valve again. Very easy do-it-yourself pool maintenance. The pool company I called wanted $150 to change this part and service my heater. I did it all for the price of the switch + 10 minutes of my own labor.

I live in the Northeast USA, long, cold winters. I failed to read the manual where it said this pressure switch should be removed every winter, and mine failed after 3 years, so I bought this replacement. Easy to install, and worked immediately. Works as described. I will remember to pull it and drain each year for winter storage from now on!

Due to the corrosive environment it's in, the original part rusted and deteriorated and developed a noticeable leak (and probably wasn't working right either.) This new part by Raypak was shipped fast, easy to install, and I think will last longer than the OEM part as it's made of more plastic and has less metal surface area than the original part.
