Sex, drugs, and violence
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. As the description state's this book includes sex, drugs, and violence. Not much violence, a lot of drug abuse, and sex amongst other things that leaves you feeling uncomfortable. I found this book well paced and was never struggling to turn the page. The characters in this book are unique with there own unique morals and faults one minute you like them the next minute you hate them, you have empathy for them then all you feel is contempt towards them. This book is based around three main characters with paths all interlock which causes more destruction than anything else. All this adds to make a very interesting read, would recommend this to anyone who likes to get in to mind set of people who don't have the greatest mental health.

Stunning debut
I do not possess the skills to unravel the complexity of the thought process behind Hannah's need to continually self harm. I can only watch voyeuristically as each choice she makes leads her further down the path to self destruction. The complicated relationship between the three main characters, Hannah, Matt and Jared, each of them as complex as the other, all of them needing one another for different reasons and all of them mutually destructive to one another. Then there is Hannah's inability to say no to any situation or anyone. Her need and desire to be liked and accepted for who she is, not even loved, just accepted, the irony being, the real person is deeply buried beneath layers of self loathing and shame that the front she presents to the world is far removed from who she really is, a mask to hide behind, just as the self inflicted scars on her skin are nothing compared to the ones on the inside, because she does not even like herself.Lucia Adam's portrayal of Hannah is so vivid and skilfully done, you feel you have known her all your life by the end of the book. Her descriptions are raw and real, often brutal. The drug taking and sex does not hide behind any romantic notions, it is not about making love on a rose covered bed, it's about wet patches on the couch. I don't think any other book ever touched me so profoundly as Vein Fire. The story itself is compelling but the way it is told leaves a mark on your soul.An absolute stunning debut by an author, I am sure, we will hear a lot more about in the future.

Stunning and Profound Read
The author ingeniously mixes psychological facts with a fast-paced story. This is a must-read for anyone interested in self-harm, Borderline Personality Disorder, addiction, as well as anyone who wants a glimpse into the mind of a madman. Besides the unique ability of the author to wrap a story around real-life facts, this book could not only be used in educational settings, but the story alone is something general readers can appreciate.Rarely does anyone give such an honest and raw glimpse into the mind of a mentally ill person, but Lucia Adams can tell a story as well. I appreciate this book for what it is: Two-fold, it's one of those books that you want to be made into a movie as well as being a book that people can learn from.I couldn't put the book down. I came across it by chance and took a look at the sample, From that, I decided to give it a go. I am pleased I did. Not only was I up all night reading one of the best books I've read in a long time, but for the entire next weeek after I read it, it haunted my mind. I never write reviews fo books, but this one deserves attention so I thought I'd do so this time.

Wow
There really aren't words to explain this novel. It will leave you feeling disturbed and yet wanting more all at the same time.I felt a deep connection to Hannah. Many times I wanted to reach through the book and smack some sense into her. Of course I know it isn't that easy.My own personal family deals with some of the issues that this book touches on. It is a hard subject to discuss, read, and especially to deal with.Something that happened toward the end of the book is one of my own personal horrors (read it and you will know what I am talking about) and I will have nightmares JUST about that part for a long time.Kudos to the author for tackling such a difficult subject in such a great way. Thanks for writing this novel and I hope to see more from you in the future.
