An Amazing Achievement
I am an elementary school Resource teacher. I’ve been in awe of Anna Kim’s gift of storytelling and illustration since her first book. I was thrilled to read her second book and share it with my students. It was an ingenious move for the author to allow Danbi to grow, as demonstrated by the richer and more complex narrative in which Danbi’s evolution is treated with a greater investment. Here, she has already become an American who wishes to share an extraordinary holiday in her native land with her friends at school. How important is it to celebrate children? What would such a party look like? How can Danbi's undying enthusiasm for this Korean holiday be made palpable to those in her newfound life in America? And how do children, by virtue of their compassion and spontaneity, rejoice in a magical solution to the problem of what was initially (and erroneously) promised?By the heartwarming conclusion of this beautifully crafted story, my elementary school students had smiles that were stretched from ear to ear. The SEL resources, along with fun activities created by the author, were delightful ways for them to process their encounter with this particular adventure of Danbi.According to our school librarian, the vivid illustrations and musicality of the first book, Danbi Leads the School Parade, was a hit during library read-alouds. I couldn’t expect anything less from this second installment of a phenomenally gifted writer and illustrator.

Stunningly illustrated, delightful story for Children's Day
Danbi is excited to introduce her friends to Children's Day, a holiday she cherished growing up in South Korea. Her friends are a bit skeptical, being unfamiliar with the holiday, so Danbi knows she has to throw the perfect Children’s Day celebration. Danbi and her friends have a great time celebrating outside her parents’ deli until a thunderstorm threatens to ruin their party. Danbi’s leadership skills are put to the test as she comes up with a way to save her Children’s Day celebration. Danbi’s quick thinking, her mom’s delicious rainbow honey rice cake, and mud puddles turn things around for an unforgettable Children’s Day!Anna Kim's illustrations are enchanting, with delicate colors and crisp details that transport readers to the heart of the story. It's evident that a tremendous amount of time, care, and hard work went into creating the unique and stunning style of illustrations that make this book so magical. What's more, the diverse group of friends depicted with different skin colors and hairstyles make this book an even more inclusive and relatable read for children. This charming story captures the spirit of Children's Day and emphasizes the importance of creativity and leadership, making it a perfect addition to any children's bookshelf. "Danbi's Favorite Day" is a delightful read for all ages, and a great way to introduce kids to South Korea’s Children’s Day.

Sublime illustrations and a must-read kid's book!
Anna does it again! What a beautifully illustrated book. It's also refreshing to see the diversity in her characters. It reflects the world we live in while immersing them respectfully in another culture. My niece really enjoyed the first book, Danbi Leads the School Parade, and now she's loving Danbi's Favorite Day. We all agree the illustrations are truly stunning. I use some as digital cards in Instagram. Of course I give her credit. This is a gem for children in today's era.

I love this book! Deeply heartwarming story and amazing illustrations.
Danbi's Favorite Day is an absolute work of art. The illustrations come to life on the page and the story is deeply heartwarming. The story weaves the AAPI and immigration experience with an entertaining and positive twist. It's a valuable addition to any child's library, as was Danbi Leads the School Parade.
