Good Candler
This is a really good purchase, was received as described on Amazon. I have and will continue to purchase this one again when needed due to quality, price and convenience.

Not as bright as other models that I have used
I was a little disappointed with the brightness of this candler. As you know, brightness is a key element of a good candler and I just don't think this one is adequate. I have bantam Cornish, so my eggs vary from light creme to medium brown. The candler will work on uniformly colored light eggs, but spots and darker shells are almost impossible to candle until 10-12 days.

"Candle" is the best way to describe this light. Too weak to be of any use...
If your egg shells are as clear as glass, and you are in a room with absolute darkness, then you might be able to use this junk to see something inside. Otherwise, you're wasting your money and time.

Bulb Burned out after 4 uses
Bulb Burned out after 2 days (approximately 4 brief uses). Bulb cannot be replaced. When it worked, it was not as bright as I thought it would be. An LED flashlight worked just as well and was more reliable.

Works perfectly!
This is the perfect sized candler for small all the way to large eggs. I like that it plugs in as everyone thinks a farm house is public property and this keeps it where I need it. Works with Maran dark eggs and with blue. I would definitely recommend.

Not bad for the price, but...
I purchased this because I wanted an inexpensive candler to provide me with a "yay" or "nay" view of my dark Marans eggs. I have an LED flashlight type candler that can't quite accomplish that with the darkest eggs. Although this doesn't provide very sharp detail with the dark eggs, I was able to ascertain which were or were not viable. For lighter eggs, the clarity is quite nice, but I still prefer my LED flashlight for those -- because this little bugger gets hot fast, and the cord is kind of a hassle. Another downside to this is that there is no off/on switch. When it gets too hot--which, as I mentioned, does not take more than a few minutes--you have to actually unplug it. I may put it on a power strip next time to make it easier, because the dark eggs do take a fairly long time to candle. The rubber on this is harder than I expected... or something... I can't quite put my finger on it. Just to say that it doesn't quite make the tight seal I'd hoped it would. I can't yet say how long the bulb will last or how hard it will be to find a replacement -- it looks easy to replace, but not too durable.Anyway, I'm happy enough with what I got for the price. If you happen to know of anything competitively priced without the shortcomings I've mentioned, please let me know.

Great candler!
My female macaw laid eggs in the nest box for the first time and this worked just fine. Unfortunately my three eggs were infertile, but since I easily could see through the shell and discard the eggs before they spoiled.

An okay product
I did use it, but my home made one actually worked better. It was kind of difficult for me to hold the egg and the candler. I think the light should have been brighter. I am not sure what would have made it better. I am still satisfied with the product for the price I paid for it and have used it, but would not buy another just like it.
