Must have if you’re going to have multiple lines in the water. Just make sure you have it locked into place before letting go. If it’s not locked down, then be ready for it snap back against your hand/fingers. I found it’s easier to put the rod in first then push it down into the lock position. Also, I also put these in the ground at an angle, leaning back, just so the rod is up in the air some and not almost touching the ground when it’s in the locked position.

Bought it for Surf fishing, the red strap won’t fit larger rods and whole thing will twist in the soil. Buying regular pvc pole holders now. 👎👎

Springs are to strong for me to set and if you get a bite it better be a 20lbder or it will tear a small fish mouth up

this was a great get for my husband. he loves fishing but cant have more then one pole out at a time cause usually he goes by himself. with this he can post it in to the shore and walk a bit away and fish a different area. he was happy with this. i didnt know these were a thing i only knew of the ice fishing ones.

I was really intrigued to try these spring-loaded fishing pole holders, but I'm sorry to report that I found that the springs were extremely stiff and not easy to set. Not only that, but there were no instructions included explaining how to use them. I also found out that use of these is regulated by many states, so if you get them, be sure to check if they are legal where you live. Made in China
