Overall, solid value...
Update 2 (Oct '24) ** I've now updated this review for the second time and have raised the stars to "5" from the previous 4 and before that 3.In the four months I have had this unit, I would like to report that it has worked flawlessly without so much as a hiccup. My car commands it to charge when programmed, and the rate of charge and limits operate perfectly according to the needs of my car. The 40 Amps is a great rate to fully charge my car overnight from any state of charge. The cables and plugs are solid and support the heaviest of loads, and though the unit housing itself is plastic, it doesn't hurt operation one bit and it all runs cool and reliably. For the cost, this unit would be hard to beat by the best of your options as long as you have your car function as the programming/scheduling brain.UPDATE 1 (Aug '24) ** Well, it turns out that Amazon's "AI" answer to my question below is the culprit. The reply that multiple current values are supported did not come from the manufacturer nor any customers, but the automated answer from Amazon (which in this case is wrong). The manufacturer did not mislead and was courteous when I questioned them, so I have raised the rating to 4-stars from 3. Overall, this is a decent charger at a fixed 40A, but fortunately my car limits the current to a safe value for the vehicle depending on conditions (capacity, temperature, etc). So, I am keeping it even though some better-built units are available. The light plastic box is a bit suspect for future longevity, but the cables and connectors are super-solid and very heavy-duty. The charging has been reliable for a couple of weeks now, the unit stays cool (cooler than my former portable charger), and it was a good value compared to other comparable fixed chargers. Cables on 40A chargers like this one are much thicker than the ones on 32A chargers and I very much approve...Original review:Unless the manufacturer or someone can tell me how this charger can be used at lower than 40A current levels, I am going to return it. I very specifically asked the question on this page and got the following answer:"Yes, the charger supports adjustable current from 16-40A, allowing users to charge at lower currents if desired. The current can be adjusted via the charger's control panel."WELL - NO. It does not support adjustable current levels, and there is neither a control panel setting nor is there any instruction on how to do so in the user manual. This charger is decently built with very heavy-duty cables, but I normally want to charge at 32Amps and only occasionally want the full 40A quicker charging. Sigh... If you just want a 40A (all-the-time) charger, then this one seems like a decent deal.

Great charger, great price!
So far the charger is working great. Charging rate is 9 kw. I get about 21 to 22 miles per hour for my Rivian max pack. Very easy to install, it took about 30 minutes.

Performs as advertised
I recently purchased a new Lucid Touring which has a standard EV receiver and needed to change my home charging station from a Tesla to an EV setup. In my case it’s an 80amp 240V feed. I already had a fused disconnect mounted in my garage for the Tesla charger so it was a simple process of changing over and wiring the QPQ. The only item I needed to ad was a high amp “dryer” outlet. The car governs the charge rate so I didn’t need a charger with that adjustment feature. It’s giving me 55 miles for every hour plugged in. I installed this QPQ unit mid December 2024 and it has been functioning as advertised. I should add that the unit does not heat up to any degree probably due to its heavy gauge wire and components. I do recommend this product.

Inexpensive, long cord - failed after 16 months
One of the less costly charging devices I could find. 40 amps actually charges at 39, but not sure if it is unique to this particular device or my Polestar. No Internet; since the car has a scheduling feature and internet there doesn’t seem as though it would be of much use in a home charger, just another phone app I wouldn’t use. After 16 months, smelled heated plastic. Found the power plug was overheating IR thermometer showed over 250* F. Replaced outlet which had been damaged and tested-still overheating. Plug case actually melted some. Car manufacturer supplied charger (also 40amp) works without overheating. Guess it’s garbage now.

Good solid quality that performs well, with a long cord, but its missing some options.
The Level 2 EV Charger by QPQ, is a very nice all-around charger that offers the basics with high charge abilities and good materials, but are the missing features something worth getting? Here are some of the things I’ve learned while owning it and a few things to consider before buying.I. Quality – One of the most important things to ensure with something that has this much power going through it, is the quality. This one feels and appears to be very well made out of good quality materials. Its heavy, with thick cables and a solid weather resistant outside. I’d put it in the lower side of the upper tier of the quality scale for EV chargers and guess it should hold up well.II. Performance – This one works very good at its core performance. Meaning it has a high charge rate capability at 40 Amps, its worked consistently, has thick cables to offer efficient operation and it’s longer than many at 25ft, in case you can’t park close. However, it lacks features that some people are going to care about. Mainly, the digital screen to provide useful info like output, charging time, temperature. It also doesn’t have a lot of control over the experience like timers, start times or lockout abilities. These are all useful features that are nice to have for some people and are available with many of their competition. However, if you have a car like a Tesla, you can do all of this through the screen in the car, except for the lock-out and are really unnecessary to have on the actual charger itself.Overall, this is a solid choice that appears to be well made and offers great core performance. It would be a solid choice if you don’t care about the missing features mentioned above and are mainly interested in good quality, with high output and long cables. I’ll be sure to update this review, if I ever start to have problems with it.You can trust that this review is simply my honest opinion that is attempting to provide you with helpful insight that I wish I had before I picked this product. Hopefully it was helpful in your decision.

No frills charger
Very easy to install. Good quality for the price. I didn’t need WiFi connectivity, app and all those bells and whistles, just the right amps. Charges my BMW i4 perfectly.
