Works great!
Was able to see the difference between my tap and my water filter setup.

THIS IS NOT A HARD/SOFT WATER TESTER! BUY TEST STRIPS.
I gave this TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) Tester the 5 stars it deserves, it detects and reads total dissolved solids.I spent a year trying to calibrate my water softener with it like an idiot before I spent the money on test strips which told me that I had my water softener turned up way too high, as this TDS meter will give what could be construed as a false positive of a high reading, as I've shown in the attached photos. If you want to test for hard water, this is not the device you want to buy. Buy test strips.

Works fine for my koi pond
This pen measures the total particulates well. I have a Zero water tester too, and they they very very nearly the same. That’s a good thing unless they are both wrong, but I have pretty good satisfaction considering they are close in measurement.

Nice
Nice item to read water solids, reads quickly and display has backlite. Not sure of accuracy however I would suggest to take several samples and compare. Worth the money for what it is

Accurate
I purchased the meter after we installed a soft water system at our new house in hopes to receive TDS readings under 300. Currently reads around 469 3 weeks after installment. What I like:The meter is easy to use and with the red and green lights signifying the quality of the water helps right away the novice person to understand. I work in the environmental industry dealing with ground water testing so this product surprised me. I’m used to using The Myron L brand. What I don’t like:There’s no way to calibrate the meter based on the instructions I was given. I use bottled water as a reference (bottled water measures around 20 TDS) to check accuracy before I dip into water from sinks.

Easy and Accurate.
I started being more careful with my water ever since getting a Brita Filter/Pitcher, the TDS reader does show the changes with the TDS in the water. My tap water was reading at around 250-300 and after the filtering process it would read at 180-190, similar to the reading for bottled water. After i would just let the TDS reader dry and then reuse it again whenever I want to make sure the water is at a desired TDS level. It also comes in a nice bag container.

Handy little tool.
This should last longer than water test strips, it's more accurate, and has other uses.I bought this to get a more accurate measurement of how hard our water is. I have an expensive home espresso machine, and these machines often die from internal scale buildup from the minerals in our water. If the water is too soft, the espresso is bad; too hard and the machine needs descaling and won't last long. There's quite a lively discussion on what a good hardness range is, but I've settled on the 90-150 range that is often recommended.I have some pool test strips that read my water at perhaps 150ppm, since the color is somewhere between the 100ppm color and the 250ppm color. It's quite a guess. I have a supposedly more accurate set of strips that reads in 50ppm increments, but those strips read 0ppm? It takes 30 seconds to get a read from these strips, but the Hofun meter was instant and read 120ppm.I read that you can tell if your water filter needs changing if the tap water and filtered water have similar ppm readout. I was overdue to replace my expensive Multipure filter, and hate to waste money changing it too often. Straight tap water reads 121ppm. After changing my filter, the filtered water reads 111ppm. I retested the filtered water a few times over the past few days, and it ranged from 110-112ppm.The meter comes with a snazzy little case, instructions, and is quick and easy to use. It also came with two spare batteries. I'm quite happy with this purchase.

Must have for measuring PPM when Growing Anything
If you want some of the best products and growing experience possible then you must get a TDS meter which measures your PPM. This accurately measures my PPM at the end or beginning of a feeding to make sure that I am not providing too little or too much to my plants. I would highly recommend this product if you want some healthy plants or veggies.
