I purchased 3 of these to run digital signage loops, and I could not be more impressed!If you've ever bought a digital media player before, you'll know that most of them come with the same lame player app loaded on it. It's slow, it looks like it pre-dates windows 95, and it's had the same spelling errors in it's interface that It had when I bought My first ones almost 10 years ago.This one is pretty slick! First off, instead of the microscopic remote that most of the others give you, which have buttons that require you to mash them several times to get them to respond, This one gives you a remote that looks like it came with an Amazon Fire Tv. It's buttons are responsive, and it has the familiar navigation button that you can operate without having to look at the remote.The software interface is simple, clean, and more polished looking than the other one I mentioned.Install is simple... Plug it into the HDMI port, and Plug the USB cable into the accessory USB port that literally every TV made in the last 7 or 8 years has. Change the TV to that Input, and you're golden!It takes a micro SD card, so you load your files onto the card (which you will have to provide) and then stick it into the slot on the player itself.Navigate to the file you want to play, decide whether you want it to repeat, play once, or play the list, then hit play!That's it!The unit came set to the proper resolution for a regular flat screen HD TV, so I did not have to play with it. I imagine there is some sort of settings in the menu for aspect ratio, zoom, Fit, or stretch, but I had no reason to go there.The school leaves the Messages running 24/7, and updates the file on the card when necessary.It does what it's supposed to, and does it reliably.I used .mp4 video files, and it didn't give me any problem.The players with the crummy software are very picky about what codec you encode the file in, as well as how you name the file. If it doesn't like the name, it just won't play. It doesn't tell you why, it just says it cannot play that file type.This media player seems much more tolerant, as it played everything I threw at it.It's a little bit more than some of the other options on Amazon, but I assure you! It's totally worth it!This is a beautiful player!I ended up with one extra one, and I've been using it with My WeMax laser short throw projector to allow the kids to hang out around the fire pit with their friends, and watch movies. It is way more simple than bringing out a laptop and all that.It's a winner! I've bought a bunch of different players over the years, and between hard to find replacement power supplies, larger form factor, the requirement to use the larger SD card format, and convoluted interfaces, they do not tend to last very long before getting retired.As I stated, the minute I got My first one, and tried it, I bought 3 more, and a nice little clam shell protective case (it's a sunglasses case, but it's the perfect size), and This is now My Go-To brand for customer installs, and personal use.Trust Me! You will be satisfied with this unit. Sometimes experiencing the lesser offerings makes you appreciate a better product even more, so you may just say "Hey! It Works like my other TV devices!" Don't take that for granted!Order a lower quality one to save $6, and you'll be kicking yourself!Two thumbs up!
