Great for removing carpet staples
Bought to help remove the staples from the floors after removing the carpet in my home and it works great, holding up nicely

works very well
My contractor pulled up some old carpeting and discovered hardwood floors in pretty good shape. There were a tremendous amount of staples left from the foam , and he was trying to find a good way to remove them with minimal damage to the floorI came across a video on YouTube which was a product review for this tool , and it was highly recommended. I ordered two with overnight delivery, the staple remover works efficiently and quietly and sure beats straining with pliers or a pry-bar and hammer. So yes, it is ergonomically correct and saves a lot of stress on whoever uses it and the floor surface.I had ordered two just in case the tool wasn't sturdy, because it had a lot of staples to do , but was happily surprised that the tool held up well and sustained no damage from heavy use.I would recommend it even if you have just a small area to do , I had 5 rooms where someone had gone into stapling overdrive , and the tool made the job much , much easier. Happy contractor and happy home owner.

A great staple remover
I bought this to remove some very stubborn staples in some chair seats we're reupholstering. I haven't actually used it for that yet. But I have used it to remove a lot of staples from stacks of paper and the like. Wow! This thing is absolutely perfect for that! It fits in the hand very well, and the point easily slides under any staple. I did not appreciate the little "grabber" part on top when I first got this tool, but after removing a few staples from paper I came to greatly appreciate it. You slide the point under the staple, squeeze a little on the grabber, and yank. No staple can resist, AND the staple is held right there by the tool, ready to drop in the trash. Perfect. I love this thing and can't wait to defeat my next pile of stapled paper.I can't attest to how well it works for the original intended purpose of removing staples from furniture, but I don't care. It's great enough as an office tool to get 5 stars. Don't mess around with those short, stubby staple pullers, get yourself one of these. Totally worth it.

Pretty good - 4.5 stars
It worked pretty well pulling out carpet staples. It certainly cut our time down. If the staples aren't fully smacked into the wood, this thing is a champ!!! You can really breeze through them. The ones that are flush or close to flush are more difficult, but still easier than using a multi-tool to dig them out and then pull with pliers. On improvement they could use is some sort of protective coating / padding on the bottom for when you try to slide under the staple. I had many small starburst scratches all over the floor. As far as complaints that the tip bent, I did 3 very large rooms worth, it didn't bend at all. It is a little nicked up, but perfectly fine. Maybe they were pulling much heavier staples than standard carpet staples? Some suggest it be thinner to dig under the flush staples...well, then you WOULD have a bent tipo I believe.

Worked great for carpet staples
We recently bought a house and pulled up over 2000 ft.² of nasty old carpet. If you’ve ever pulled up carpet, you know that you then have hundreds and hundreds of staples to pull out of the wood floors, one at a time. This was the best tool that I found for pulling the staples out of wood. The way the staple puller works, it has a little lever that latches onto the staple and holds onto it to pull it out of the floor. I still had some staples break, but not nearly as many as with other staple pullers and prying tools I tried.

Worked great for pulling up carpet-pad's staples from plywood subfloor.
Worked great for pulling up carpet-pad's staples from plywood subfloor. I also used a 4' pole scraper, but more than half of all the staples were too secure in the wood to come out that way. This tool was perfect for those remainder. The handle is comfortable during use, and the shape and clamping mechanism helped ensure that both prongs of the staple usually came out together. I only had to resort to pliers once early in the process while I was still figuring out the technique.

I wanted these for small, very tight staples. No good.
This tool has a small plate you need to slide under the staple. If you can't slide it under, the tool won't work. My staples were too small (1/4 inch) and too tight to the wood to use this tool. I couldn't get under them with it.

The Bomb
My husband was blown away by this tool - he loved it and praised me multiple times for getting it. I recovered 8 antique chairs with his help, and some still had the original covering, then my covering that I was redoing, so lots of staple removals. Work out good.
