due to a busy lifestyle it’s rare that I’m compelled to review a product either for good or bad reasons
As per my other Amazon reviews, due to a busy lifestyle it’s rare that I’m compelled to review a product either for good or bad reasons, but this is one of those times that is fully deserving of my time.As a keen amateur photographer I was looking to expand my lens capability by adding a 50mm fixed focal length prime to my camera pack. The criteria for my choice were picture quality, build quality and affordability. After much research that also found me considering the Nikkor 1.4D and Nikkor 1.8G, I happened upon the Yongnuo and, at approximately 1/3 price of the Nikkor 1.8G, decided to give it a go.This wasn’t a Prime purchase but I found the delivery to acceptably quick. Bearing in mind it was sent from China, it arrived 8 days later and saved me approx. £20 for the pleasure. The lens arrived well packaged and protected.Other reviews have highlighted how noisy the AF motor is and how the camera sometimes fails to register that the lens is attached; both of which after approximately 300 exposures I have not experienced. The AF motor is as quiet as my Tamron telephoto lens and rarely has to hunt to find focus. The focus point is found as quick as my Tamron too. Others have commented that the focus ring doesn’t operate smoothly; not so with mine – smooth and quiet and has a quality feel to it. The lens doesn’t rattle either when you shake it.So the acid test… picture quality. Here’s my thoughts as an amateur; if you took an image with this lens and gave it to a pro photographer to critique, with my current level of knowledge / understanding I don’t know how they’d recognise that the image wasn’t taken with a more expensive lens. Images are sharper than my Tamron tele and when stopped down to f1.8, is able to produce that creamy bokeh that many photographers hanker for. As a portrait lens it’s simply brilliant. Close in portrait shots produce an extremely short depth of field that can leave the closest eye pin sharp and the other out of focus. In sum, if you’re after a ‘nifty fifty’ for your Nikon DSLR and are on a budget, I can’t see how this little lens would fail to impress.(Lens paired with a Nikon D80).

Quality and sharpness is great, however I'm not the pixel peeping type
Solid lens for a solid price. Not Professional or anything. Purely for home and amatuer shooting.Quality and sharpness is great, however I'm not the pixel peeping type.Auto focusing is quick and smooth. Manual focusing ring is quite smooth to however I found difficult to use, more due to my amatuer skills with the camera than the lens.Build quality seems solid as. It's all plastic body but doesn't feel super cheap or anything.Overall for an amatuer looking for a cheap good lens I would highly recommend over the nikon version which is nearly 3x the price

Budget Prime lens
I wanted a fast Prime lens for my D5300. This fitted the bill, just something cheap and cheerful for a walk about lens. I haven't used it too much as of yet, but from what I've tried, the autofocus is a bit noisy when compared to the AF-P 18-55, it also hunts about a bit, struggling to find focus. At f1.8 it produces very soft pictures but sharpens up when you stop down to about f8. As I was looking for a fast prime, something that would produce reasonably sharp pictures at f1.8, this is what is the most disappointing. Pretty average all things considered.

Lens 50mm
The lens fitted nicely to camera mount focus was quick and accurate. Tried some photos and exposure seemed very good but slightly under exposed. Really good value cheap alternative to Nikon lens. Probably only comments would be maybe could be supplied with lens hood and pouch.

Autofocus slow
The quality of the autofocus is not always guaranteed to be 100%. Sometimes the picture is sharp but then sometimes focusing on the same object and same distance the autofocus is so slow that it hunts for at least 10seconds and the focus is still blurred.Price is good but then I suppose because of how much it costs there are these shortfalls. Probably would not recommend this lens as the quality of the focus can not be guaranteed all the time.Build quality feels good.

It took too long for it to get delivered. It was 3 days late according to the date of arrival. But the product is amazing! I love how much value you get for money and I'm 100% satisfied!

Good choice
At first bit skeptical as the brand is unknown. But after using i felt it was worthy because the rate is half the amount if i had to consider nikkor lenses. And then it fully resolved my purpose. Background blur is awesome, auto focus is quick and accurate. One can go ahead with this

Relación calidad/precio más que aceptable.
Es un objetivo que cumple con su cometido. Ligero y relativamente rápido a la hora de enfocar. Por su precio no se puede pedir más, ofrece una nitidez más que aceptable.
