I bought these for myself as a weekly traveler and for my daughter who lives alone in DC. They are so easy to use. Just that extra piece of mind helps me fall asleep faster in hotel rooms. I feel better knowing that my daughter is safer, as well.

These are extremely useful for their designed purpose, which is to act as a deadbolt substitute on doors without a deadbolt or in cases where you're afraid someone can get in through a deadbolt. The travel lock adds an extra layer of obstacle that is only removeable from inside the door, which is great for your peace of mind in hotels or hostels, or even in homes with family who don't like to knock. If this lock is in place, at the very least you won't be surprised by someone letting themselves into the room. That being said, it's meant to prevent the door swinging inward, not to hold against any kind of extreme force. So don't rely on this to hold up as well as, for example, a stopping bar wedged against the floor or something similar.

This door lock might work on hotel doors but it does not work on any exterior door in my house. The hole on the small side is too small for my spring latch to pass through and the larger hole is too big to fit into the strike plate.
