I replaced the front axle transmission gears on a Toro 20071 22" lawnmower with a Tecumseh LV195XA engine. The old gears were becoming stripped and made traction unreliable. I swapped out the gears, made sure the housing was refilled with fresh grease, and that everything was messaging properly and tightened into place to avoid stripping the new gears. Wear gloves because the old grease will likely be black and messy. Worked perfectly afterwards, so spending around $20 on these gears save me $400 for a new mower.

Had to tap the pinion into the bearing. Tight fit. I also tightened up the backlash with a thicker washer.Like new. I recently replaced the bearing before I got this. So, if you also need a bearing, you might as well buy a new unit.

My Toro front drive had worn out Both the gear and pinion ... It looked like I only needed pinion but both were worn ....Glad I ordered thi COMPLETE kit
