It's hard to place electric fence wire back onto the original spool. This spool was perfect and every bit of wire taken down, 1+ acres/double strand, wound perfectly. No more bound wire or wire stuff in bags.

This spool is a real time saver. I saw other reviews complaining about durability. (I find it to be very durable) If you use this to hold really high tension, eventually something's going to give. It doesnt matter who makes it. Just grab some cheap step in posts, and drop one every 20 feet to keep your wire high. Then you won't need such tight tension on the spool. I fond this to be very fast to change fields for rotational grazing. The ratchet keeps the spool nice and tight , even when you have to stop for each post. I have 600' of wire on mine with no problem. In my picture, I know the spool is not on the electrified portion of my fence. It will be later. But the cows don't know its not electrified right now. It still holds very well, and is weather impervious. I will probably buy another for the other side of the field as well. I recommend this spool.

This is a quality tool that should last for years. I deducted 1 star for the price because it just seemed a little high to me.

I have a couple of mischievous sheep that have gotten smart enough to know that the turkeys and chickens have food in their feed troughs clipped on the side of their runs... the male will head butt the fence to make the feed flip out of the trough onto his side of the fence. Seriously. So, having this prewound reel of polywire that we can string out onto poles when we turn them out into the pasture to keep them from getting into things is perfect! It's easy to put up temporary fencing in the morning and reel it back in when it's time to move them. It is not the thickest wire so I'm not sure how well it's going to hold up but with almost 3000 feet of it, I think I'll have some to spare!

product reviewed is a 3:1 reel for ~$60TL;DR; Basic reel of medium quality; strong steel handle and frame; decent reel of flexible plastic; wire guide, ratchet lock and ratchet mechanism are flimsy.For temporary fence management on homestead farming operation.The basics of this reel seem quite OK with strong steel components.We have two of this reel one has been in service for some time and went into some kind of lockup in the field which we can’t now reproduce. This is the second and I was curious to see how serviceable it is so I took it apart. I was actually quite impressed with the construction and I’d be inclined to strongly recommend it if the vendor will supply parts. At the price for a gear reduction you could buy spares and cannibalize them for parts as an alternative.The wire guide and ratchet lock are quite flimsy although we have not broken one yet after a few weeks of use. I suspect these could be replaced with home brew components out of wood.If I can reproduce the issue we encountered I’ll update the review however there is nothing misleading about this product. If you really need geared reels then for light duty this one is a good option. This is a very nicely made tool for managing poly wire for cattle fences. We set up temporary poly-electrified fences to keep horses off sections of pasture to let the grasses grow back and this reel tool provides excellent management of the wire. It is very well made and works extremely well. Price is great too. Very pleased with this product.

I got several of these reels from different sellers they all appear to be the same just different colors. They all work fine, get whichever one is the best price.
