I'm always hesitant to hang anything heavy on the walls in my 1920s-era house because it has plaster walls and it is difficult to find the studs. Regular stud finders are built for drywall and don't work on plaster. After googling, I found some suggestions to use strong magnets to look for the nails in the studs. Happy to say I was able to use these magnets to find the studs and installed a heavy hanging desk by screwing directly in to the studs. One good tip is to use painters tape once you find the stud to show the location of the stud up and down your wall--it is about the width of the stud and means you don't have to mark up your wall.

Indispensable household tool. Functions as described, I keep it next to my battery stash to confirm charge prior to change or installation. I nolonger have batteries lying around all drawers of the house because of this inexpensive tool. Particularly useful for 9v batteries for smoke detectors before installation.

Very strong magnets! I would have preferred Stainless Steel key rings so that the magnets don't attract them. Also I would consider a small coating over the magnets so that they can't damage paint when stuck to something.

I love the product and this is the second set that I have ordered. Only this time what was suppose to be a three pack seems to be missing two of them. It's even printed on the label includes 3 magnets.

I used these to find some studs in a room so I could install a unit of clothes hooks that had to be installed by screwing into studs. These powerful magnets did the trick. I had previously tried several battery operated stud finders but too many false readings left me frustrated with what should be a simple process. I am going to order another set for my other toolbox.

Bought these because a co worker said they were the best for finding studs behind Sheetrock ( I work in construction ) and man was he right no more messing with stud finders that don’t work right . Very satisfied

These worked great to help find studs for mounting my TV's on the walls. Super strong magnets. Don't let your kids play with them, they will pinch themselves.
