it is not completely squirrel proof
i like the feeder but unless the squirrels actually sit on the foot rest it’s not squirrel proof. they actually hung from the top of the feeder and were able to empty my feeder in no time. i ended up hanging it from a shepherds hook and they can’t get to it. it is a nice feeder for small and large birds

NOT Squirrel proof!
The media could not be loaded. Either we have exceptionally intelligent, athletic squirrels, or this product is not as promised. Squirrels figured out how to slide down the side of the feeder, and catch the ports. No perch required! We added two upper baffles, since neither one was enough on its own. With that approach thwarted, they learned to jump to the feeder and catch their feet in the ports. Again, no perch required! I contacted Droll Yankee and was told to place the feeder 8' distance from a launch spot, and at least 4' distance from the ground. The feeder is already in a position that satisfies those parameters. After submitting the attached video, I received this response from Droll Yankee:"Thank you for the alternate formatted video. The squirrel-resistant features of this feeder are the perches, and they are only effective when that is the part of the feeder the squirrels use to access the feeder. We recommend altering the feeder location so the squirrels must use the perches which will deny them access to the seed. Please feel free to contact us with any questions, we're happy to help."So, do not purchase this product expecting the squirrels will be unable to access the seed. They don't read the instructions about only using the perches. This is an expensive feeder and it doesn't meet the expectations that were promised.

Squirrels can chew through hanging cable with just a few bites.
The feeder works as advertised, however, first the squirrels figured out the spring mechanism and simply approached the seed from above. They would eat what they could, then jump off and wait for more seed to flow out, then get on the feeder again. They could polish off a full feeder in 2 days. They graduated to chewing through the thin cable that it hangs from and it dropped to the ground, allowing them to roll it and get out all the seed they wanted.

Hanging wire broke
I love the style, but the hanging wire broke immediately when I first hung it. The feeder fell, and the bird perches at the bottom of the feeder broke. The hanging wire is too short and stiff to repair. My feeder is useless now:(

inferior and already broken WASTE OF MONEY
This feeder does not deter squirrels not heavy, large birds. I filled it today for the second time. Within minutes the feeder crashed to the ground. The wire hanger came out of the top. The wire is so short i cannot repair it by knotting the wire or with any other modification. the feeder itself is plastic and the squirrels have already chewed the openings so make them larger.DO NOT BUY. Waste of money.

NOT squirrel proof
The squirrels are able to get the seeds. This is brand new and you can see how they have damaged it. And the hook came out. This feeder doesn't fix your squirrel problem.

Squirrel proof
Squirrels can't get into the feeder. They keep trying but no success yet.

Squirrel Proof? No.
Squirrel proof? No. Squirrel resistant? Yes - up to a point. It worked like a charm until the squirrels learned how to jump off my deck on the feeder at an angle and finally broke the small cable support cable. Once I replace that with something stouter, it will be back in business despite all the squirrel teeth marks on the plastic where they tried to break into the empty feeder.
