Weak, unstable, and not well made
I bought the two step version of this just 6 weeks ago. I was hesitant at first because the photo shown on the ad appears as though the stair tread surfaces do not run parallel to each other. Look at the photo that I posted. I edited it to add in red lines to show the projection of each stair surface. Notice the bottom step is WAY OFF compared to the next step up, and then even the top mounting point on the frame is further off again in the opposite direction (red line doesn’t accurately show the frame projection but you can see a gap below the line where the frame slopes downward). If you simply bolt them onto the camper frame it will cause the middle step to project upwards slightly, and the bottom step to project upwards terribly! The bottom step compared to the middle step is awful. This could cause someone to trip!I ordered them anyway because of how the frame was made, I had a specific mount idea in mind for my camper that most standard RV stairs would not accomodate. I was planning a custom mount recessed up into the trailer frame, and I knew I could compensate for them being sloped by shimming the mount point. Also I was trying to create a set of stairs that were somewhat shallow and evenly spaced when walking up into the camper from the ground. The space between the steps was a lot smaller than standard stairs, which is a good thing for those with weak legs and difficulty climbing stairs. They also collapse into a folded position and take up less space than other RV steps and the custom mount I had planned would help keep them from hanging so low below the frame when folded up and on the road. The set arrived and at first seemed very solidly built, the spring loaded mechanism was super tough to open without having them bolted on. I did manage to get them open with help so that I could plan my mount and take measurements. They loosened up some just during that phase so much that I could eventually open them without help. Once installed and opened and closed a few times they actually became TOO LOOSE. The frame now feels rickety. I noticed the bolts were becoming loose as I opened and closed them. I tightened them all, but the trick there is you cannot just crank them down or you will be locking the steps in place so they no longer open or close. So you have to tighten them to a strategically snug point and then stop, but they will work loose again. Also they claim to support 440 pounds. I weigh 265 and if I step on them they sag down A LOT, it feels like stepping on a sponge. The frame has a scissor action as it opens and closes, the bolts pass through and bear the weight as you step on the stairs. I feel like the holes are stretching around the bolts and wallowing out, but it is too early to tell. All I know is that the frame has a lot of flex, and it is easy to see simply by pushing on it by hand. To remedy this I also bought an RV step support and drilled the bottom step out to bolt it on. That took care of the sagging, but now because the spring mechanism is so weak compared to just 6 weeks ago when I first bought it, when stepped on, you have to keep your weight on the outer edge of the step or it will pivot on the added support and the whole set folds up on you as you climb it! This happened to my step daughter and she got hurt on them. So now I’m looking at needing to drill a hole through the frame and inserting a pin when they are open to prevent this.We have had this set for just 6 weeks and took the camper out for use only one weekend since install. I have opened and closed this set of stairs a number of times in the driveway however as I worked to install them and also worked on my camper modifying it to our tastes. The more I open and close them the worse they get. The ONLY reasons I kept them were because, first they provide two steps to get in instead of the previous one step our pop up had, and second, I had drilled holes in the bottom step to install the stabilizer, so I felt that returning them wasn’t an option. Third, because of their frame design I was able to fabricate a mount to fit up inside the frame of our pop up, which made the last step up from the stairs into the camper more reasonable than it would have been if just bolted onto the frame as the old step was. This also allowed me to compensate some for the awkward misalignment of the stair treads, I shimmed them so that the bottom step is not sloped upwards so much. See the pic with the red arrow, I used a stack of washers on the front mount bolts to bring the bottom step down and be more level, but this does cause the middle step to slope down slightly. It’s a compromise but it works.Once I get the mod done to pin the frame so that it doesn’t fold up on us during use I believe I can get some use from them. If any more problems arise though, I will remove them and toss the whole set in the garbage. If I had known before I bought them that there would be this many issues I would have passed. I wrote this review and posted pics so that others would know prior to purchase what to expect.EDIT - after this review we used the camper one more time. The steps worked ok for us because we learned how to use them. Then we traded the pop-up camper in for a hard side camper. I removed these steps before trade in and reinstalled the old single step. I tossed these steps in the trash. I did not want someone else to get hurt on them. Save yourself a lot of hassle and trouble, money, and possibly a bad injury. DO NOT BUY THESE!

Good Replacement
I haven’t installed these, but my first impression is that they seem to be made of good metal and the steps feel like all steps of this type. There are also no obvious flaws in the powder coating. I am not as certain about the hinges, and the metal springs seem a bit underwhelming to me. They do fold up and down with very little difficulty. I think that for the price, which is currently $169.99 not including the coupon, these are a good replacement choice.

The tread rise is sketchy
The issue I have is, the rise between the treads is 5.5 inches which throws you off. The distance between the top tread and the trailer floors is close to 11” so it’s very annoying and dangerous to use them. They are also on the flimsy side for 270lb man.
