Q: How cold can this jacket withstand?

It is like a sweatshirt/base layer. If you have ever worn one of the sand colored 1/4 zip military thermal tops, it is made out of the same material. I bought this combat shirt while I was in Afghanistan, it was getting down to 19 degrees F outside and this shirt was perfect for working in. If you are wearing an IBA/IOTV/Plate Carrier over it, it is the perfect weight of fabric; keeps you warm, but doesn't get too hot while you are expelling body heat. On the other side, if you are standing around, I put a jacket over it. It's a great mid-layer. You will want to wear a t-shirt under it tho. On a side note- it fit exactly how it is sized, I'm 6'2" 210 lbs, I bought a large, fits great and is not restrictive. Good investment.

Q: How high is the neck collar???

Not very high but the collar folds down like a shirt collar. Best way to describe is that the collar comes up about one inch to one and a half.

Q: What's the difference between xx-large and xx-large long?

The Length of the shirt it is longer than a Reg. xx-large.
