This book is a pleasure to read. The author describes her engagement with the out of doors, through short and poetic essays on plants, animals, and the delights of connecting with nature. When she has a question she asks an authority for the answer. So not only is it a peaceful read, one also learns interesting facts along the way.

Fascinating and beautifully written, these essays open one window after another offering views of Nature’s wondrous worlds within worlds. Highly recommend!

This book is a true gem; should be of interest to any naturalist, nature lover or anyone interested in general farm life. Ms. Hoffstot is a great writer and each chapter, on a variety of subjects, reads like you're listing to a wise old friend.

Read this book if you're looking for a quiet moment in nature at the end of a long day.

This book of beautifully written essays is so gently delivered. I found myself reading it slowly and actually sitting and spending time with it all. I enjoyed Daryln’s thoughtful observations and insight woven with the expertise of naturalists. I thought her essays came across as wise, sensitive and contemplative. Please pour a cup of coffee and open this book….If you like Wendell Berry you will love Daryln’s work.

Beautiful book that makes you experience nature, see it with different eyes. A look so necessary in this environmental crisis we are living.
