This was a sweet story about pets. The kids wanted an elephant but hurt the kitten feeling. But in the end they kissed and made up. Awesome illustrations. I love these books.

J.P Anthony Williams has made excellent job on this kids book again. It is about two kids, who both want an elephant, however they already have a cat. The story teaches the kids that sometimes the things they take for granted are the things they should be the most grateful for.Great lesson about gratitude and the illustrations are amazing.

This is a really cute book. Cute story with a great lesson. The pages are full of color and detail. My daughter really enjoyed reading it to me.

When siblings Liam and Emma see the elephant show at a circus, they’re convinced that a pet elephant world be the coolest thing in the world.The kids decide they need to get an elephant for a pet. But Felix, their cat, has some doubts. The feline figures Liam and Emma’s crazy idea will just blow over. But the kids are still talking about getting a pet elephant the next day. They think of all sorts of adventures and activities they could do with their pet elephant. Felix thinks they’ve lost their minds.With all the kids’ talk about getting an elephant, Felix feels sad and unappreciated. He skulks off in a feline funk to feel sorry for himself.The children later realize that they may have taken Felix for granted. And they set out to remedy the situation.This is an enjoyable and engaging read, with bright and colorful illustrations reminiscent of Chris Van Allsburg. The story moves along quickly. The character of Felix the cat is adorable in a kind of Garfield sort of way. He’s smart, sassy, and sensitive. I really enjoy children's book that spark a kid's imagination. If Only I Had A Pet Elephant certainly did that for the kids in my life. Like Felix and Emma, they wandered through their day imagining all of the things they could do if they had a pet elephant. The kids clearly understood the message as they included their pet dog in their extremely inventive capers.The book was a joy to read and watch the kids interact with. The illustrations are vibrant, beautifully drawn and engaging to kids of all ages.I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
