The heater is massive but works very well. The temperature gauge is pretty clunky but the range you can set it at is quite impressive.

I bought this just a little over a year ago for my 40 gallon tank from the 1990’s with the stamp on the side that displays “Made in the USA”. This heater has more wattage, 800W, than I needed for this tank but I didn’t want to overwork it so it would fail, and I had no problem paying more for it. Well, that didn’t work out like I planned. It just started shutting down thinking the water temp was too high!. It’s alarm woke me up in the middle of the night, so I unplugged it and dealt with it the next day. Since then, I’ve unplugged it several times, only for it to fail again and again. I cleaned it thinking that may have been a contributor…Nope!! So I put it in a bucket of ice water, and after an hour, it thought the water was too hot, though the temp reading clearly showed it wasn’t. These pics are not from that day. This last time that I unplugged and tried to reboot it, same failure. As I’m writing this, the thing is beeping at me again, so it’s toast!! I don’t know the country of manufacture, but I’d guess China. Whichever, it’s not built to last and a 40 gallon tank was too much for it to handle. Built this way by design to fail past the warranty, or just built to become cheap and disposable. Regardless I’m buying a different brand at the local store.

These heaters are the best I've ever used . I have 3 fishtanks that have these heaters and love the digital feature, accuracy & the warning features on these. I can't tell you how many times I went to do water changes and forgot to keep the heater below the water line. The Hygger immediately sounds an alarm to let you know. Also if the temp in the tank goes high or low from the desired setting it sounds an alarm . I had a problem with one of my heaters & Hygger immediately resolved the issue.

Love this heater. Simple to set up and very accurate. The improved suction cups are great. No more random floating heater.

I was unluckily got an defective device, i was angry writing a bad review about the product because I thought I wouldn’t get anything back anyways. But I hasn’t thought about nothing is perfect, will have 1% defective, and nobody knows until we try.Hygger company take very good care for all of their customers which we need the most.For me, whichever company provide a great customer service, I’ll come back for all my life. First one I tried was defective and electrifying the water. Replacement came and worked for 15 minutes then I heard a pop and it also started electrifying my water. Stay away from this product!

Update: I changed review to 3 stars. Contacted support and they were quick to make things right. They refunded my money and sent me a replacement free of charge. But I haven't used the new one yet since I had had to purchase a different heater for my tank when this one busted. When I use this replacement I'll update my review again.The glass shattered within less than 24 hours of use. Whatever sand and powder was inside covered my entire tank! Had to quickly clean and water change! Hoping fish will be ok. Not happy at all. I buy cheaper heaters all the time and never had one explode. Decided to splurge for a nicer one and wow...lasted only a few hours. Thankfully so far my fish seem ok.
