I put this to work for the past few months both soldering (higher heat) and reducing heat-shrink tubing (lower heat). In both cases it works great! It's light and portable and holds enough fuel for every job I've employed it and then some!As with any heating device, keep in mind that you'll need to allow it to cool, unless you have some way to store it securely while it cools, but that's common to all tools of this type, so not an issue at all - just something to plan for.As I have several sets of tools, I will be purchasing more of these to add to other tool kits. This thing is great!

The media could not be loaded.  As my video explains and illustrates, this is a great tool with two problems – including a safety concern – both of which could be solved with the inclusion of a heat-resistant case.One reason it's great is that it has just two controls: on/off and heat level. Unfortunately, this is also the safety concern. Though unlikely, it's possible the tool could turn on by shifting in a tool box or bag along with other items, resulting in damage or a fire. Though a switch lock would be a serviceable addition, the inclusion of a heat-resistant case would be better because the tool remains hot for a long time after use. A case would allow you to get on the move immediately after use – and also prevent accidental activation when stored.Much to like about the tool otherwise. It’s radiant heat, seemingly using a catalytic honeycomb like some propane heaters. As a result, it seems to be efficient and it doesn’t blow hot air, rather concentrating the heat where you want it. The reflector also helps in this regard, and protects surrounding surfaces somewhat.Compared with butane lighters, It stands up to wind and it doesn’t discolor shrink tubing – unless you screw up and literally burn it.I used it on all variety of shrink tubing, including the type with integral solder rings. My only problem, again, is finding a way to store and transport it that can withstand the residual heat but not take up undue space in my tool bag. The manufacturer is in a better position here than any customer is.

This is a great pocket sizes frameless heat gun. It’s small in size and fits perfect in your hand. It is butane fueled. It can hold appx 20 ml of fuel which last about 120 minutes. It comes with the gun, a heat shrink deflector nozzle, ignition lock, safety stand and instructions booklet. This heat gun is great for crafting, DIYers and so much more. I’m a crafter and the gun has come in handy so many times. It’s a great tool to have on hand if you are a crafter. It’s compact size makes it easy to store and easy to handle. Not only does it work great but it’s also very affordable. I’m so happy with the gun. I definitely recommend this for crafters or just to have around your home. You never know we might need something like this.

I have a small home hobby shop and occasionally work on electronics. I like the clean look that heat shrink tubing gives to my finished projects. I also make zipper pulls out of micro-cord with a section of heat shrink tubing placed over the cord to provide a little extra something to grip when wearing gloves.Prior to getting this unit I used a lighter or large electric heat gun. The lighter didn't always provide even, consistent results and was difficult to use without burning the the tubing. The large heat gun was cumbersome and difficult to use on small pieces. This thing is perfect for this applications. It's small, portable, and easy to use. using the included curved deflector it's easier to heat up all sides of the tubing with minimal movement allowing for very precise placement. It heats up quickly and is ready for use in seconds. The included stand holds the heat gun at a great angle freeing up both of my hands to hold what I am working on which also increases the precision for the application of the heat shrink tubing.I wish I had picked one of these up years ago. It really adds to the ease of working on my projects.
