Awesome. Auto shut off, quick and accurate sensing. Used all the time. Folds up to protect sensor and fit very compactly in drawer.

Now displays incorrect temperatures.
I purchased this digital meat thermometer a month and a half ago. It worked very well initially but now displays incorrect temperature values that fluctuate from one random # to another. Often the values shown are unrealistically high, such as 584 degrees F. The random and unrealistically high values occur regardless of whether the probe is at normal room temperature or in grilled meat when the temperature should be about 144 degrees F. Sometimes the display shows nonsensical "HH.H". I've changed out the original battery to the spare that came in the package but that didn't resolve the problem. I've also tried calibrating the thermometer and that too didn't resolve the problem. I've sent GDEALER an email asking for instructions on how to resolve the problem or for a replacement thermometer. I'll update this review based upon their response.Update as of mid-Sept 2018: GDEALER responded perfectly. They apologized and quickly sent me a replacement thermometer. The replacement works very well. It measures within a few seconds, displays the value on a screen that's easy to read, is easy to understand & use and is easy to clean. I've compared the reading to a laboratory-grade thermometer I own and the readings are nearly equal. I'm very satisfied with the thermometer and with GDEALER's responsiveness.

I compared this to the hundred dollar Thermapen I've had a few years. Here's the result.....
Years ago, I purchased a Thermapen after a respected food journal listed it as the best you can buy. It had better be at around a hundred dollars! I bit the bullet and have been happy with it's performance in consistently making the perfect steaks without overcooking. I saw this offering on amazon for a fraction of the price and assumed it had to be inferior. Maybe it took more time for the temp to be displayed from an inferior thermocouple. Maybe it was less accurate and not as durable. This arrived and I immediately compared it next to the Thermapen during food prep. The result amazed me. Construction, similarly durable. Readout time, almost identical. Readout accuracy; one was slightly superior since it broke the temp down to tenths of a degree, which of course is not necessary. And that one was this GDealer! This one also has several buttons to hold the temp or something, but I haven't even looked at them since so far I don't have a need. Conclusion: Maybe I'm missing something here and now I do have both thermometers. But why should anyone pay 5 or 6 times as much for a thermometer that seems to perform identically? Ten stars!

Good Overall
I've never had a meat Thermometer before, this is a cool one with couple features, like the meat temp in the back, automatic turns off when you fold it up, back light for easy read etc.One thing I don't quite like is that it's not a fast read, the temperature gradually rise up, maybe take around at least 3,4 seconds to rise to 170 degrees. That means I have to actually take the meat out from the oven to test it, so I don't have my hand baked in the oven. Or remove pan from heat when I test burgers, because it will get hot to hover your hand over a cooking pan. And don't forget to press hold before you take it out of the meat or the temp will drop real fast and you'll have to do it again.

Excellent food thermometer
I bought this thing probably 4 years ago and still use it today. I don't think I've had to change the batteries in it yet either. This thing is great, reads temperatures accurately, has a lite-up display, displays in both Fahrenheit and Centigrade.Only con is that occasionally (maybe 3 times since I've owned it), it will appear to read incorrectly. I usually try and measure something known by placing the probe in my hand and trying to read my external body temperature. If it's not near what you would expect, simply close it and reopen it, seems to recalibrate itself.Would absolutely buy again, or if this one eventually dies given it's service length so far.
