Medieval Shawl Men Renaissance Half Cape High Texture Lace Up

Got this for a little violinist in my life, and she won't stop wearing it. Seems to be very well built and looks great! That's a win!

First and foremost, the quality isn't nearly up to par with the picture. It's a single piece of faux-leather with a thin, cheap, ugly fabric sewn on the shoulder. The strap is cheap and flimsy. What's worse, just holding the thing will DYE YOUR HANDS BLACK! I touched it for a grand total of three minutes and my hands were left with black stains!It's not nearly as aesthetic as the picture suggests. The neck hole has awkward lumps at the sides and doesn't sit nearly as pretty as you'd think from the image. It doesn't have enough weight to sit properly, and the shoulder fabric falls awkwardly due to the fabric itself. DON'T BUY THIS if you're trying to make a nice cosplay or LARP costume! The price isn't nearly worth it.

I bought this because I couldn't find anything else like it. A previous reviewer said if you can sew, you can probably make something out of this. With sewing kit in hand, I ordered it. Unfortunately, the problems with this cape were not fixed with a needle, but instead with scissors and hot glue. First, this thing was HUGE (granted, I am a woman), but still. I cut about 6 inches of pleather off the back of it, and hot glued it back together covering another 4 inches or so. Unless you are very broad-shouldered, this would probably be large on anyone. Next, it was extremely flimsy. I used craft foam to reinforce the pleather to keep it from wrinkling. Studying the construction of the pleather, I cut my foam to match. Was this necessary? Maybe not, but I didn't want to risk gluing my foam randomly. Lastly, I made a new hole in the shoulder belt to tighten it appropriately around my shoulder. The belt was again, extremely flimsy, and will probably be replaced next halloween.Though it does fit and look quite cool, it was definitely more work than expected. Was it worth the $30 odd dollars I paid? Only because, again, I couldn't find anything else like it. But for the amount of work I had to put in, I wish it was closer to $15.

It’s a great prop. I used it for a Renaissance festival. However it’s not very durable. Uses thin fabric and the straps aren’t great at holding it in place. For the price I think it’s great for a few good uses, but it’s not going to last too many seasons.

It looks pretty much the same as the picture, but the leather is very thin and fake looking. The points in the front lacing don’t have any reinforcement, so they curl up and look very tacky. I’m able to glue in some reinforcement to make them stiffer and stay down, but I was hoping to wear this without having to adjust anything. The little strap on the shoulder is also really cheap and placed oddly, on the outside of the shoulder so it doesn’t stay in place and is very obvious. Again, I’m able to fix it up and make adjustments, but be ready to fix it up. The fabric drape on the side is nice enough, thin and lightweight and drapes nicely. Overall, decent base, but definitely needs adjustments before I would wear it out anywhere.

Comes folded so it needs time to un-crease.

Was awesome for my Sith cosplay

I initially knew this product was going to be bad by how cheap it was, but I didn’t expect it to be this bad. The thing looks like it would fall apart to a gust of wind. The fabric has absolutely no weight to it, and it is pinned down terribly to the neck piece so it flies everywhere and doesn’t stay over your arm like it is supposed to. I fixed this problem by busting out my sewing kit and stitching it fully down across the shoulder. The corset leather part is nothing to speak of either. The leather folds and sticks up everywhere just as cheap fake leather would.The biggest problem I came across though is that the cape bled off on everything. It stained my fingernails, skin, clothing, carpet, walls, and anything else it touched. I wouldn’t even dare put it in my washing machine with how much it bled off on everything when it was dry.I think I got less than what I payed for, and I barley payed anything. Do not buy this.
