Beware! Changes colour over time.
When I first got this product I did a patch test on some architrave cutoffs and was amazed at how good it was.Fast forward 4 months when I finally get around to staining my door. Having done a patch test in early June and storing the tin in a dark cupboard I thought I'd be OK, but no, the dye itself has now turned orange! Thankfully I only stained the outer edges of one panel (see pictures), but now I've got the ball ache of trying to sand / clean it back to its original colour so I can try again with a different wood stain. Not happy one bit!I've also attached a picture of the patch test versus how it looks now so you can see the difference.

Good stuff
I used this to stain plain pine doors after hanging them. I went for a light oak colour and was very pleased with the results ☺️

Excellent stuff.
Excellent stuff. Ridiculously easy to apply, it took seconds to dye a table top project using a fresh kitchen sponge. I bought light oak which is the colour it comes out as on pine. The swatch on the tin is misleading as to colour, it's a much nicer, lighter and oak like tint than it appears on the tin. It would of course depend what you use it on. It dries very quickly but does have a slightly muddy effect on pine with all the knots and what not. This does crisp up with a couple of coats of clear coat. I'm very impressed with it all round though and will try other colour on future projects. I won't be using paint on wood stain again that's for sure.

Excellent product
Great colour, very happy. To get a richer and more intense colour simply add another coat.It dries super quick. Very happy with this product, used an old tea towel to apply and it worked great. Finished with a coat of danish oil to seal and give a very light natural sheen. Gives it a better finish.

Clean brushes in water
I bought this to use on miniature furnitureThe wood dye goes on easily and smoothly and I found there was only light sanding required between coatsThe only downside is the smell which Is much stronger than the ~Lightfair dye I have been using. It is suggested to use in a well ventilated room.I like the effect of this dye on bamboo which gives a patchy effect that looks quite pleasantOn simple softwoods and on Obeche, this dye looks very even and smooth.Brushes can be cleaned in waterRecommended

Beautiful Colour
Several years ago I had a four-poster bed made that was stained with Rustin's medium oak. So when I moved into my new house and found floorboards upstairs, I wanted to be sure that the woodwork was a similar colour to the bed. From an aesthetic point of view I don't like to see wood that's stained totally different colours so it was important that I achieved as close a match as possible. I'm really pleased with the results. I also cut some floorboards to use as bedside shelves and stained these to match with some cool shelving brackets. I'm really pleased with the results. I'll be purchasing more of this strain to complete the stairs and doors. Will post more photos as I work my way through the house.

Brilliant - worth every penny.
I was searching for a pine stain, that was not too dark (as antique pine stains tend to be), nor did I want one that was too yellow in tint. We recently had a house move, and sadly many of our pine furniture items suffered from scratches with the move.A light sand, and using a paper towel to apply the stain all the items now look like new! So brilliant and indeed worth every penny.

rustins wood stain
It stains the wood... I use it selectively with other Rustin wood stains to colour pieces of oak ( or occasionally other woods) to produce a depth of colour to the wood and to bring very light coloured characterless wood to a similar hue- not to get the wood to the same colour but more similar . Rustins is easy to use, I wipe it on- painting it gives TOO much colour then wipe over the whole area with white spirit to even out and more darkly stained areas.) I have used Rustins stains for 50 + yrs- excellant stuff) Light teak stain can be a bit orangy!
