Q: How do chairs fold up for stacking? Would they stack well in a small closet?

The seat folds up, and the folded chair takes up about 4-5 inches of depth against a wall.

I'm not sure what the manufacturer says, but we use these chairs in our dining room. They have a sturdy construction. My husband weights about 260 pounds and the chairs have been fine. Not "rickety" or "rocky".

Hi, they are tricky and tight but once you find the technique it gets a bit easier. I am right handed for reference. With the folded chair standing, right side of chair facing me, I have my left hand on top of the chair back. I push the seat a couple inches away from the back. With my left hand I grasp the bottom of the chair back, with my right hand I pull the bottom of the seat forward which begins to open (or unfold) the chair. I can then push down the back of the seat to insert into the frame. I’m sure this may sound confusing but without a video tried my best to review the steps I use. Good luck. And enjoy.
