Drive with confidence.
I tried 3 different dash-cams (two cheap and one mid priced) before I purchased my KDLINKS DX2 and it's the best by far, here's why. The packaging is an indication of the quality of the product inside. The instruction manual is well written and easy to understand. I like the black camera body, as it makes it very inconspicuous from outside the vehicle. The rear facing camera is a 'must have' for me on the congested roads I use, it's very reassuring to know I have overall coverage of 290 degrees around my car. The picture quality is the best I have experienced on any dash-cam to date. The on screen set-up menu is concise and extremely easy to use. A major plus for me is the inclusion of the CPL (polarising) filter, as I spend a lot of time driving in southern Europe. My previous dash-cams often failed to cope with strong sunlight, resulting in poor quality recordings, which were certainly not good enough to support an insurance claim. THE KDLINKS DX2 IS A GOOD BUY AND IT DELIVERS!

Very nice unit that was easy to hook up via cigarette lighter. The front camera is excellent even during nighttime driving conditions. I'm very pleased with the quality. Initially, I had some trouble with the camera only showing an over-exposed (white-out) image half the time. I had to restart it several times to get it to go to normal exposure. But the seller was very quick to communicate and send a replacement part that worked great (the rear cam was faulty, it seems.) Now I have a working system. Always with these types of finicky newer technology, the most important thing is to have solid customer support and warranty. These guys seem to realize that, and therefore I can wholeheartedly recommend this company. I would also look into their R100 unit, as it seems even better.

I recently purchased my second Kdlinks DX2. The first one still looks and performs as good as the day I unboxed it nearly year ago. 9-11? months back, after exhaustive study, I had bought first Kdlinks DX2. Recently decided I’d get a second dash cam, best to have one in each car, fulltime, always, no exceptions. So, I went back, revisited/ re-studied dash cams, only this time it didn’t eat up so much time; as I quickly realized couple things: 1) there are a whole bunch of people out there that could use some help, and 2) Kdlinks DX2 is still, far and away the best thing available. (I don’t normally write reviews for ANYTHING, at least not positive reviews, I don’t have the time. But here is my best advice.) I’d had dash cams before the first DX2, there are 3 of them sitting in box in the garage. I’d call them all worthless. Image quality matters. If your recorded video? is too low resolution? or too fuzzy? -- to make out license plate numbers, or police car numbers, or police badges or police officer nameplates? It’s a) likely inadmissible in court, and b) it’s worthless for your court case, or most any other “use case.” So, one of the main differences in DX2 and the crap in my garage? is IMAGE quality. DX2 produces high res images that are actually USEFUL. It’s anti-shake image stability works, I do a lot of off-roading, and the images are stable even on wash-board roads. It captures a wide-angle view, but everything is crisp and clear. It’s small enough to be unobtrusive, but the display screen big enough that I don’t have to use reading glasses (i'm 62 years). features and functions work exactly as advertised. (except you are not really limited to 32mD SD disk, you can download free utilities on your windows system that will properly format 96Mb SD disk (windows itself won’t do anything aver 32mB, because it’s FAT format, windows “expects” anything over 32mB should be NTFS, as it would be, on your PC.)). Anyway, while 32mB is enough, I sometimes use the “lock/save” video function. So far, it’s not been for any accidents or police incidents. Just video of a moose and another time, of a very bold wolf, stuff I wanted to keep. But with 96mb SD, you can save a ton of video, even in high res. 2nd rear-view camera is important. I have mine mounted inside the rear window of my truck cap (Toyota tundra extended cab with a Lear cap.) Police and others can’t see the camera because of lightly tinted window. But rear camera still takes good images. When you get pulled over by a bored State Trooper? What is the excuse used 99.9% of time? “you were driving erratically”, “you were weaving excessively”, “you kept crossing over the yellow centerline”. Standard BS from bored cops that just want to check you out. With the Front and rear footage from this unit? If you were NOT weaving, not crossing centerline, it’s immediately obvious on video. And your case is thrown out of court instantly. So, I had few things in mind when I bought my first DX2. Don’t be the fall guy. Don’t pay a bunch of fees in a crash, would you could have proven it’s the other guys fault. Don’t be a victim of some rogue police offer, has an attitude left over from last person he encountered. Judge always will take word of police over yours. You better have more than your word to win the case. But don’t show something iffy or vague to judge, or DA, or jury. Show them something irrefutable - show them crisps video image. So, my recommendation is: don’t waste time and money with cheaper units. You get what you pay for. And this DX2 is worth every penny. It’s not expensive for what it does. Only way to get a better one, is get one of police type units cost 2K. so this one is perfect for me. I just yesterday bought another unit to keep one in each car full-time. And twice I have emailed their support people. Each email got an actual answer to my question. And pleasant surprise? Each of two emails got an email response in under 5 minutes. [no, I don’t work for this company, don’t own any stock in this company, don’t have any relatives that work there, just thought I’d put up my one amazon review for this year, as I actually think people are burning their money buying cheap-o dash cams. This one is opposite of cheap-o 😊]

Since I purchased my camera I still cannot get it to record. The red flashing light blinks indicating that it's recording but when I check the micro sd, there's nothing on it. I tried formatting the card on the camera and it didn't work. I also tried a new micro sd card and it still doesn't work. In fact, now I'm getting an error message, "Insert sd card" even though it's inserted.

While the front camera is adequate, the mount is quite another story. It is entirely too loose allowing the camera to change position as the car moves. I am very disappointed with this device and would not recommend. Update: after writing my review the seller reached out to me and provided me with two replacement mounts! I haven't had a chance to attach it yet but, I can already tell that it's stiffer. I will update my review and stars once I've mounted it. Second Update: It's been approximately one month now and unfortunately, I can't recommend this product. I've reduced it to one star from three. While the seller was prompt in dealing with the malfunctioning mount, I now find that the camera stops recording intermittently. Perhaps it's the heat here in California. I don't know. The first time it shut down was at night. It turned itself on and of three times in succession. I've found myself driving along when something video-worthy happens only to realize the dash cam is not recording. This was very disappointing. For the price and from the description, I expected a much hardier device. Third Update: So it's been not quite one year since I purchased the DX2 and the product is now falling apart. It still stops recording intermittently and yesterday I took it down from the windshield to try to shut it off manually because it was continuously powering on and off, only to find that the housing has separated. It is no longer sealed and barely staying in one piece. I have now reached out to Assurant and filed a claim. They are sending me a gift card in the amount of the purchase price. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this product.
