Awesome Steering Wheel Cover - The Look and Feel of Luxury without Breaking the Bank!
15 Month Update: I put this on in June of 2015, now 15 months later it still looks good as new! No wear, no tear, no weeaknesses. It still looks great and feels great! There is no better steering wheel cover out there in my opinion! I bought one of these a long time ago for an MG and loved it so when I inherited a Jeep Cherokee that needed a steering wheel cover I searched and got this one. I have NO REGRETS so far. Note I am very particular and OCD with my vehicles so if I say something is good, it's usually good. There are cheaper ones out there that may save a few bucks but many complaints in reviews regarding the materials, and the stiching used. This Wheelskins Cover is everything I wanted. It is pure leather inside and out, no synthetic lining, doubled over at the edges where the holes are for strength, and the lacing included to stich it is waxed and very, very strong! It is also only ONE piece of Leather so only one seam...others I saw were multiple pieces stiched together.I cannot yet speak for durability that some have complained about since I just installed it a few days ago so can only speak to the quality of it so far. I will be using leather treatment on it as I do with all my leather, especially in an auto that sees extreme heat and sunlight. The only CON that I could offer is it is a very tedious and time consuming installation to do it right. I was very meticulous with each stitch though! I knew this going in but if you are looking for quick and easy, this isn't it, nor would any that stitch on with the feel of real leather.TIP #1: The directions tell you to pull each and every stitch as tight as possible and if you do that you should be as happy as I was. They also tell you to put band-aids or tape on your fingers to help...DO THAT! I started with a couple of bandaids and ended up taping all 4 fingers on my right hand (right handed) with cloth athletic tape. This is needed because every time you pull a stitch through with the needle (included), you must pull it very tight, as tight as possible. This required taking the longest end of the lace just pulled through and kind of looping it around your fingers to allow you to get a good pull. I even went so far to lace each individual 1/2 stich and pulled tight before lacing the other half. What this means...on the front of the steering wheel you are lacing the stich from the inside out (this is 1/2 of the stitch) you then take the lace over the inside of the steering wheel and lace it through the hole in the back, lacing from the outside in (this is the 2nd 1/2 of the stitch), then back to the front from the inside out again and so on. You may be able to get away with doing both halves of the stitch then pulling tight but I was only doing this once.TIP #2: When you get to spokes in the wheel, you have to skip holes in the back side of the cover, and use "false" lacing on the front holes at the spokes, again inside out. It is very important that you skip the correct number of holes on the back of the spokes, otherwise when you get to the end you will not have the correct number of holes left to finish lacing. This should be generally intuitive but I double and triple counted for the two spokes I had to make sure I didn't make a mistake. After all the time it takes I would probably burn the wheel cover if I got to the end and made a mistake.TIP #3: The lacing provided is extrememly strong. I am a big guy and pulled as hard as I could so it definitely has high tensile strength, as well as the leather being strong in the area of the holes. This lacing is waxed. It has a tendency to get twists in it while lacing so be very carefule not to get a knot! I almost had two knots and one was tought to undo. If you get a tight knot in this stuff by design, you will have an extremely difficult time undoing it. I took extra time every few holes trying to remove twists to prevent knots but the longer you lace the twists are inevitable so be careful. The instructions say it takes 1 hour but it took longer than that for me taking extra time, and having to run into the houe to find tape for my fingers. Anyway the finished product is fantastic and looks professional!

Quality
These steering wheel covers are worth the money. You can they are quality made when you open the package. The leather is thick, and the stitching is straight.Wheelskins has an installation video on their website that gives step by step instructions, along with tricks to make installation easy. It still takes about an hour. I've installed 2 of these now on different vehicles. My only tip, don't install when it's hot. It's much easier to work with the lacing in cooler temperatures because it's coated with wax, and it's very sticky in the heat.Once installed, they feel slightly thicker at first, but I quickly adapted. I originally ordered these because we have a vehicle that the steering wheel was starting to peel and we didn't want to replace it. This has covered the bad spot, and looks great.

Actually a FIVE STAR review!
This is a quality product. Heavy tanned leather, not "bonded" or "manufactured" leather-like material. Quality control is excellent (hole spacing, alignment, stitching, etc.). Perfect fit for my 2000 Toyota 4runner.Follow the instructions, take your time and you'll have a comfortable wheel cover that will last you for years. I'm 80 years old... if I can do it, you can do it. Hint: I found a little hook tool ($1.99 @ HFT) to be extremely handy for enlarging the factory holes and going back to tighten stitches.NOTE: When I'm researching items on Amazon I read the negative reviews first. I posted this as one star so folks would read it, but understand THIS A FIVE STAR PRODUCT!

A definite winner.
This is a high quality leather steering wheel cover. The feel is great and it really brightens up the driver's position.A couple of points worth mentioning - first of all, the edges are glued down, and the glue has a smell to it. I left it out for a day or twobefore installing it, and the glue smell went away. Not a big deal.My steering wheel has wide "spokes", and it's easy to get the hole alignment off by one. It ended up one stitch off at the end, and there was extra leather on one side at the end of the stitching. That's not a defect in the cover, just something to watch out for. I'll remove the stitches and re-sew it. Not a big deal, especially if there's something interesting on the radio to listen to.The thread does tend to knot and tangle on its own, but as it gets shorter that becomes less of a problem. It does help if the leather is nice and warm - you can get the gap down smaller if it's pliable. All in all the results are terrific and the Wheelskins cover is a definite winner. I'd certainly buy it again for another car.

Feels good
This cover does take some time to put on the steering wheel. It took me about an hour. Patience is needed. The end result is nice.

Quite a project to install!
These are nice once they are installed, but be aware that you Will be spending 3-4 hours doing it.Also, once you receive your, hopefully, correctly sized kit you should make sure that it fits over your steering wheel and that the distance across the wrap is sufficient and equal along the WHOLE wrap so that you do not run into a 20% section that is not quite wide enough (as I did), causing even a skilled mechanic and leather worker to have extreme difficulty correctly stretching the leather enough without breaking the wrap cord in order to finish that last improperly sized portion of the wrap. Mine did come out beautifully, but I am afraid that all but the most handy would not have been able to have properly completed the install with the leather wrap that was provided. I also recommend taking an awl and running it through the pre-pierced needle holes prior to beginning the install and consider using zip ties to hold the wrap in place as needed for any difficult sections…Good luck.
